Anodizing

I think tightening up the holes that the cross shafts bolt to would be a good thing.

I imagine threaded holes (track tensioner brackets) would need tapped out. Or can they be, in a sense... masked off?

I have also heard of hard anodizing the aluminum cross tubes to prevent wear?! Does anyone have experience with this??

Thanks for the Good info here. I really want to coat my rails this summer .trying to decided between powder coating or anodizes.!

buy the best tap you can, nitride coated and you can very carefully clean out the holes...hardcoat can be drilled or tapped with solid carbide bits and taps, carbide taps run about 75-125 bucks each, bits up there as well. Run a tap in all the holes a few times before sending it off and ask if they can plug the holes for you as well. its really great stuff, bout as tuff as it gets.

Track tension brackets I just put a bolt with a nylon lock nut...600 miles still tight

Although it is hard on drill bits... with a good centerpunch-indent and pilot hole... I've had no problems drilling with Cobalt bits and using standard taps.

But, like 2XM3 said... have them plug holes you want to re drill or tap/chase.

Yeah sometimes its good to have the .001-.003 as it tightens up the factory slop..lol

oh fyi color anodizing is a dye that impregnates the metal, it cant flake off like powder coat or paint. But will fade in the sun over time and will scratch ect as its soft.

Maybe we found the cure / fix for the Poo 800 motors...:face-icon-small-win
