Annual Copper Creek Bowls Ride and BBQ 2010 Part 1

Well it is that time of the year again to start planning the Annual Copper Creek Bowls Ride and BBQ.

April 10 is looking like a great date. Should still be able to ride from the parking lot.

I will bring a BBQ, turkey fryer, Beans, and probably half the plates and silverware.

We need burgers, buns, chips, Ty's incredible salsa, Spud's spuds, more plates, salads, desserts, etc....

We also need a head count.

Last year we discussed doing a raffle or something with the $$ going to the Ponderosa Snow Warriors. What is everyone's opinion on this? I can try to get some items donated for a raffle. We just felt that we should give something back to the local club.

Lets Ride................................

I'm in.

There is only 15" of snow right now at Lower Copper.
There is no way there will be enough to ride the road up there. I'd be suprised if the mile of dirt road isn't rearing it's ugly head in that stretch by the lower SnoTel by March 1st.

Someone should talk to Jim Parris, make a donation and ask them to groom from the lot to as far in as they will a few days before. Just my $.02 worth.

Dang wish we had talked.... would be fun to do one sooner

OH WELL GOOD LUCK WITH THIS PAM!

So you are not in Shane?

I am not doing this, I just posted. This is something we all do. I need your help with it, please. Give me a call, you have my number. I cannot PM you at this point.

Earlier is difficult for us, as Sean is working every weekend before that. We have always done it the first or second weekend in April. I am hoping for better snow in the bowls too.

Please give me a call Shane.

Ya know Scott, you say that every year and there is snow every year. I will bet ya a million dollars that the bowls and the road will get snow between now and April 10. Let's just hope that it is enough to keep the snow on the road. :face-icon-small-win

Did you see SnoWest in the title

Annual Copper Creek Bowls Ride and BBQ Part 1

Part 1 is for when we get 50 posts and have to go to Part 2

I have not had a chance to post on BCR and Snow and Mud.

No there is not snow every year.

Two years ago we BBQ' @ Snowbank lake in April and we were above 85% snowpack.
As you well know...Snowbank Lake is PAST that long dry section of the road and up past the SnoTel station.

This year we are close to 50%.

This year we will be driving up that road by Spring Break. :)

looks like the MiLLiON $$$$ bet is on! lol
and bout the snowpack, we got 24" in 24 hrs friday here...
this sh!t happens overnite and winter is far from over.
flip u guys, Im headed to Vegas for the week!:wine:

Heading to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico for a little over a week on Thursday so I won't get to see any snow for a bit....but I am looking forward to the barbecue this year...had a great time last year. Bringing more friends this year. Let me know if I can bring anything...:face-icon-small-hap

More Snow...........

Well we definitely need more snow in the bowls and on the awesome groomed trail. Yes, it is groomed all the way to the gas station. What a ride it was yesterday, may be 30 bumps in 12 miles. I cannot say if the road will hold out until April 10, if we get more snow (1 - 2 ft), most likely, otherwise we will be lined up from the snow line on the road. The ride up has a new drift, causing a lack of snow over the rocks at the top of the first hill, easy to get around though. The trees seem to have gotten a lot taller every where, even where I have never seen them before. There are uncovered rocks on almost every hill. The snow felt like a few inches of powder on top of concrete, but as Brent discovered, under the 3 inches of concrete lies 18 to 36 inches of faceted powder all the way to the ground. Boondocking was great and climbing was good, more technical than usual, but definitely good.

Unfortunately, unless we get slammed like the east coast (more preferably), I doubt we will be riding on Mother's day and definitely not Memorial day. But we will be riding and BBQ'ing on April 10.
