ANGRY about a speeding ticket????

whats-your-excuse.jpg

This is a HUGE sore spot for me.

There is so much criminal activity that we could spend our resources fighting, that would actually make society a better safer place.

Safe speed is such a moving target, I mean a 14 year old kid could be driving an 80,000 lbs grain truck 65 mph, but if you drive your crotch rocket 70 you get a ticket.
So don't give me the "keeping the roads safe" bull5hit.

Further more, many patrolmen are in that profession because they can't play a productive role in society.

If you can't tell, I don't care to be told how fast I can or can't drive!

when they make me King of the World, I am going to privatize traffic enforcement. There is no way police should be kept away form from important stuff because they have to watch speeders. Hire lots of security guards to sit in their photo radar cars and rack up the tax dollars. Red light cameras at every 2nd intersection.

These tickets are purely voluntairy. Nobody has to pay for a speeding ticket if they don't speed. Just like the lottery is a tax on people who aren't good at math, photo radar and red light camera tickets are a tax on those willing to pay for the priveledge of getting somewhere 10 seconds quicker

Use this money to hire more policemen and give them to tools to do their jobs.

BTW, beauty sign LMAO

I'm not voting for you to be "King";)

trouble ahead

I agree on one point, it is not about keeping the roads safe, it is about increasing or maintaining revenue. With the current recession, sales tax and gas tax revenues are down so this is one area they can pick it up in. If they were worried about safety they would not allow 85 year old geezers in a walker drive 40 foot motor homes flat-towing an SUV. I watched one of these guys tear off his side compartment doors on a concrete abutment at a gas station, good thing it was there or he would have driven over the pumps and innocent people would have died. As revenues continue to spiral downward look for law enforcement to tighten up in all areas, it is the only way they can maintain their donut supply and wage and benefit increases.

Police are everywhere here on the BC roads, the speeding tickets have gone through the roof. Of coarse fatalities have gone out of sight too, i guess the slowing up of traffic has an opposite effect than what they thought. If they want to cut the death toll they could get the bad drivers off the road the ones who have been involved in countless accidents. Try making them pay instead of the safe drivers. My respect for the police department is at an all time low, our city is ridden with crime and all the can do is target known speeding areas.

Just what do you do that is so productive to society?

I hear your complaint and agree that it is a creates a lot of revenue. But on the flip side you would be AMAZED at how many criminals are caught speeding. We are talking warrants, wanted, drug runners, rapists, etc.

Criminals typically have so much disrespect for law that they commit higher than average traffic infractions.

So here is my point:

Pull me over but don't give me a ticket unless you find something else from the stop... like the 20 kilos of coke in my gas tank.

Just what do you do that is so productive to society?

Well everybody knows government jobs produce NOTHING.... they only cost the rest of us money.... So a productive member of society is anyone that doesn't work for the government!! lol:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

Just what do you do that is so productive to society?

Well, for starters, my wages are not derived from others tax dollars only for me to needlessly harass them for harmless trivial traffic violations.

Evidently, you are an officer of the law of some sort.
I hope your desire is to actively pursue true menaces of society, my hats off to you if so.

If your another highway monitor who fulfill their "little big man" syndrome by busting balls.......well then......that's just sad.

I got a ticket in the Az strip a couple weeks ago. Barney fife in a wrinkled uniform was hiding on a downhill blind turn. I had a radar detector and there was a mini van between me and the cop. I hit brakes even though I wasnt speeding out of reflex. He pulls me over cause Im in a fast car. I told him no way he got me cause the van was between us. He says do you know how radar works? I say yeah its 200 feet wide 5 inches from the end of the gun. He just about pee'd himself. ***gin loser. $200 ticket for 15 over... total BS. nothin but revenue, there is no population on this piece of AZ hwy.

YESS!! I agree 100%.

If only this would happen but I could be immune....

You never answered my question. Stating that your wages are not derived from others tax dollars is not an answer. Do you feel that way about snow plow operators, firemen, paramedics, etc.?

If these officers, with "little big man" syndrome were not out there think about how reckless people would drive. Yes, you and your family would be at a great risk out on the roads. There then would be no one answering that phone when you called for help because someone just ran a member of your family off the road and they died as a result.

I still want to know, what is it that you do that is so special for society? Have you saved anybodys life today as so many law enforcement officers in this country did today? They do this for your protection, not to harass you.

That's an excellent response!

However, the bravery of some officers does not offset the the fact that many of these guys truly are just out there harassing fine productive citizens.

Me (or others for that matter) coming on here bashing law enforcment serves no purpose other than personal venting.
I should be above that, my bad.
My original point was how silly speed limits are, but yes there are morons out there who would cause chaos if they weren't being babysat by officers.

That is a good response as well, and I can see your point of view. In July I received a speeding ticket after entering a National Monument. The park ranger was a complete moron and even after explaining myself how the road went from 65 outside of the park to 45 inside of the park it was not a safety issue as I was out in the middle of nowhere. How could it have been a safety issue? The state of Utah deemed the road safe at 65, but the National Park Service reduced the speed to 45? So after giving $85.00 of my money to the National Park Service, I think that speed limits are wrong in some instances where they do not promote safety. I also agree that there are butthead cops out there that are on power trips, believe me I know. They tend to give all a bad name in certain instances such as traffic law enforcement.

Good Discussion Mafesto.

hahahaha...so true!!!! well put!!

I will say there are some exceptions but you nailed the majority. EVERY cop I know and I know alot of them:beer; have gotten into it because they truely were lost for a career. Heck one of my best friends in high school went to college to be a pharmacist than dropped down and went to mortition then settled on criminal justice. He wanted to get into state patrol and settled for town cop. He has got a chip on his shoulder for sure.
The others I know all just drifted job to job until they got into law enforcement. Not to many people actually go after that career.

Mafesto,

This thread has been built up too much. Answer Snow Fox's question. What do you do?

Anyone can pm me & I'd be happy to share the details of my failed & successful occupations & business ventures.
