And you thought 4-strokes where the "next big thing"

read about a carb in the 50's or 60's that a guy invented that but steam in with the intake air that made the old car get 40 to 50 mpg with virtually no carbon, they pulled the heads after a thousand miles and the piston were shinny new, supposedly the patents were bought up and it was never put into production,

what could it be like by now:mad:

I love this one. :D :D

As rumours and conspiracy theories go, this one is truly legendary. People are still actually mad about as though every word of it is true. :p

I'm glad to see it's not being lost on the new generation... :D

Besides not carrying the weight I am not sure how much more efficient it is. The heat is still generated, you just are cooling by turning it to steam and then expelling it.

Wonder how all that steam sould affect"global warming" Isnt water vapor the largest greenhouse gas?

No, actually the average power generated per stroke, would be higher. Basically, the 6 stroke is a 4 stroke, normal diesel engine, that he converted to run on gasoline. So, stroke 1, suck, stroke 2 compress, stroke 3 bang, stroke 4 exhaust, now stroke 5 raise piston and inject water towards top of stroke, water boils to steam; which is a 1 to 1600 expansion, which pushes cylinder down (stroke 6) and exhausts steam towards bottom of stroke, then go back to stroke 1 and do again.

How do you make the piston go the same direction in stroke 4 and 5?

Dadgum your right! Good catch. I corrected it below.

That's what I get for thinking late at night.

I think that cows cause the largest amount of greenhouse gasses.

Gasoline (along with oxygen) burns up in the combustion chamber, causing the air to expand. * as a general statement air will expand 33%, in a sealed container, with a temperature change from 0 to 212 *

PV = nRT says that a 1200 F change will a 3.4X change in volume.

So clouds are causing global warming?? and have you looked outside lately? Last time I saw -30 in my area in Dec, Well, was a long time ago. GW is hogwash. More like natural climate shift.

He's joking. Water vapor makes up like 95% of the total greenhouse gas potential in the atmosphere. That's why it's so funny to talk about CO2, since it's an incredibly small contributor. There was someone that joked about hydrogen powered cars, emitting greenhouse gases that make up 95% of the earths greenhouse absorbers. The joke was even if your car emits drinkable water vapor, it will be labeled a environmental polluter.

I believe the new phrase is Global Climate Crisis these days. We need to be prepared to declare a Global Cooling emergency, you never know. Dust off your popular mechanics from the 70's and brush up on GC disaster.

If you've never watched it, google "The Great Global Warming Swindle" movie documentary by the BBC. Very enlightening.

yeah back in the day of carbed engines and i was a young auto apprentice,,it was'nt uncommon to see some of the old hands using a sprayer of water mist into the intake of a carb while revving the engine to help dislodge carbon deposits

Ahhhhh, that makes more sense! Thought I was losing what's left of my mind!
