So what does everyone think of this oil? Anyone using it and had any oil related problems?

Amsoil

I am using interceptor now have put over 3000 miles on 2 11 pros and no problems. Used dominator on a 08 dragon with no problems 2000 miles and over 3500 miles on a 03 vertical escape with no problems. I think the oil is great especially being 15+ dollars less a gallon then Polaris oil.

^^^^yep, same here. My D7 and D8 never burned down on AmsOil.

I've ran it in all my sleds and never had a problem. I ran dominator in my dirt bike and also had great results. Great oil in my opinion.

I am a HUGE fan of Amsoil. I usually buy it by the case. But I did have a motor burn down on my 2009 Assault last year. I ran Dominator in it since day one, and it blew up at 1100 miles. I dont blame the oil for this though. I blame a faulty motor from Polaris

AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR

AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR is a great product. This will tell you a little about it. You can get it at wholesale price as a preferred customer.

INTERCEPTOR® Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil

The High-Performance Powersports Solution

See Pricing Information or Place an Order

•Excellent for all two-stroke snowmobiles
•Outstanding performance in DFI engines
•Prevents piston ring & exhaust power valve sticking
•Protects against wear
•Low smoke and odor
•Helps prevent plug fouling
•Exceptional cold-temperature fluidity (<-60°F pour point)

Two-stroke powersports equipment is meant to be ridden hard. Repeatedly pushing a machine to wide-open throttle during all-day, aggressive riding, however, takes its toll on the engine. INTERCEPTOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil is specifically designed for reliability and longevity in hard-ridden snowmobiles, dirt bikes, ATVs and PWCs, helping enthusiasts spend more time riding and less performing maintenance. Its low-smoke, low-odor properties help ensure riders won’t be “smoked out.” INTERCEPTOR is compatible with nearly all other two-stroke oils and is recommended for most makes and models of two-stroke powersports equipment, eliminating the need to purchase and store multiple types of oil. It’s an oil engineered to be pushed as hard as the equipment it protects.

Anti-Scuff/Anti-Wear

Two-stroke powersports engines have evolved to run on leaner gas-to-oil mixtures, increasing harmful friction and heat. INTERCEPTOR’s synthetic formulation incorporates high-molecular-weight components with high flash points that resist burn-off. As a result, a greater amount of oil survives the combustion process to provide lubrication and protection. Its excellent lubricity and film strength inhibit metal-to-metal contact. In extreme dynamometer testing, INTERCEPTOR’s anti-scuff/anti-wear formula completely prevented piston skirt scuffing.

Excellent Deposit Control

INTERCEPTOR naturally resists harmful deposits due to its thermally stable synthetic formulation. It is additionally fortified with high-temperature detergency and dispersancy additives that provide excellent engine cleanliness. In extreme dynamometer testing, INTERCEPTOR completely prevented piston ring and exhaust power valve sticking for maximum performance. It also severely limited piston, combustion chamber and spark plug deposits for reliable operation.

APPLICATIONS

Use AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil in all two-stroke snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATVs, PWCs and where API TC oils are specified.

I know this thread is a little old but still interested in people's experience with Interceptor in Polaris 800 motors. I have burned probably 15 gallons of Interceptor in 2 Ski Doo's. 2000 600 had 8,000 miles when I sold it and 06 800 had 3,100 when I sold it. Dealer tear down on 06 at 2,500 and they didn't even want to put in new rings but I insisted.
Just bought a 11 Pro 800 from a dealer and he said Intercepter will plug a small hole in the exhaust that takes 3 1/2 hours to clear. I am an Amsoil dealer and quizzed Amsoil and they have never heard of that happening.
I am running Gold til I can sort this out. Help

I've never had a problem. Interceptor is a great oil.

My 11 PRO had 250 miles on it when I got it and had been running Redline. I changed to Amsoil then and it now as over 900 miles. I have not seen a problem with the exhaust valves or the hole plugging. That said- like anything you still need to clean them.

I also had a dealer tell me it would plug up the boost port . I have been running and selling Amsoil since 2000 and have never had a problem .
Remember it was a polaris dealer telling you this .

Just cleaned the exhaust valves on the wifes 800 pro. It has over 800 miles on it and the valves were very clean. Took all of 1 minute to clean off what little carbon there was. They operated very smooth during disassembly. I was not even going to clean the second one after the first one was so clean, but I figured I better and it was the same. I ran a wire in the little holes and there was zero build up in them. I was going to do mine too, but after hers I will wait until I get back from the road trip next week. I have been running it for years with no failures of any sort. Pistons and cranks have always lasted way longer than recommended rebuilds. Put 5000 miles on a Lembke 996 before it was refreshed and it still looked good. You will however get some of the same answers on oil that you get when asking which sled or truck is best. Too much brand loyalty on here which I am not 1 of. Just giving you my experiences with this perticular oil not saying it is the best it has just worked great for me.

I always cleaned the exhaust valves in my 06 800 Ski Doo and it was a waste of time because they were never sticky or "carboned" up because I used Amsoil. Since this 11 Pro 800 is new to me, I have not done a thing under the hood. I am riding 5 days this week and will be looking under the hood today to just find the valves. LOL.

Are the little holes you are referring to on the valve caps or where? As I said in my last post the dealer told me it takes 3 1/2 hours to get to the small holes and clean them. Anyone know where I can get an on line schematic of the engine so I can see what the valves and booster look like? There must be a place that sells aftermarket parts for Polaris that shows all the parts. Thanks for your responses guys. I am learning Polaris!!

They are located in the same spot as the doo,s are, but I think you knew that. Once you remove the valve you will see the little hole right next to where the guillotine slide in. You cannot miss it. You have to remove the 2 bolts and cap on steering tube to get the pto valve out.

It might take you 3.5 hrs your first time but after you have done it a few time it does not take long at all . Moving the down tube for the steering is a pain an I recommend pulling the exhaust .Than just remove cap on pto side and take out the spring and pull the valve towards the pto side to remove . I use a 1/4 drive 10 mm socket with swivel and a 10 mm ratchet wrench.
Just remember to have piston in the down position to clean out boost port with a small wire (mig welder wire ). Clean everything up and reassemble .
For christmas a friend got me a gear wrench with 4 different sizes on one wrench what a frigging awesome tool for the pro 10 mm, 12 mm,13 mm and 14 mm it will fit everything except the clutch so far .
Good luck

Huge fan of the Amsoil interceptor oil. Ran it in my dragon, now my 12 pro. Never an issue and burns clean.

Once again guys on Snowest are great!! I took a closer look under the hood yesterday and I can see it is tight but I can do it. Thanks
