Amsoil 0W40 or 5W50 for 2015 KTM SXF450?

Hi guys,
I’m preparing my KTM SXF 450 for snowbiking on my new Camso DTS129. I looking to change my oil for better starts in cold weather. I’ve always had really good experience with Amsoil products and I’m presently running their 10W50 motorcycle oil, which is the grade KTM demands. I also have a good friend who is an Amsoil dealer so I get great price while helping a buddy.

I would like to know what I should pour in my engine between the 0W-40:

And the 5W-50:

Makes no difference. Id double check bu they have the same pour point. Common misconception. I run 10/40 Amsoil in my YZ. Pour point is -43C. Many people think all oil is the same when it comes to pour point. Not so

I use 0-40 arctic cat synthetic in my 450sxf and it likes it way better than the 5w motorex.... Shifts, starts I can even jump higher with it

Good point about the pour point! I checked the Amsoil data sheet to compare these oils:

My actual Amsoil 10W50
Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt (ASTM D445) 18.1
Pour Point (ASTM D97) -38°C (-36°F)

Amsoil 0W40
Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt (ASTM D445) 14.7
Pour Point (ASTM D97) -51°C (-60°F)

Amsoil 5W50
Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt (ASTM D445) 20.2
Pour Point (ASTM D97) -43°C (-45°F)

The other day, my bike was parked outside for 2-3 hours, at -7°C and with the 10W50 in it. It started but not as easely as usual and you could hear the starter was working harder to rotate the engine.

I will try the 0W-40 and see how it helps. Thanks guys!

Yes very true. I left a quart of 10w40 Amsoil Metric out over night in -30C. In the am i poured it against 0w40 Amsoil. Poured the exact same. No difference that i could tell.
