Hey guys, someone suggested a "Smart Carb" thread as a place for folks to go directly without searching deep in other threads. There are going to be a bunch out there and soon the new FCR for 4 strokes.

...So if I understood your 450sx one, you will remove all of the efi components and convert it to a 42mm smart carb for this bike in February?

Can't wait for my cast 38 to show up. Hope APT comes through and has all the pre-orders shipped by the third week of December. Mine will be pulling double duty, Cr500 in the winter and KTM 300 for dirt season. If this carb is as good as advertised it's going to be on every bike soon.

Yes. There isn't much to remove. It is quite easy. Remove the pump from the tank and replace with a traditional petcock. They make a large diameter one to replace. Disconnect the wiring plug from the pump, disconnect the injector plug, remove the throttle body. Done.
The ECU all stays. That is your ignition map.

You can order them with the hole drilled or you can do it yourself. Pretty easy.

Heres how to do it:

Smartcarb Heater Install

Ok the way to prep your carb for the KTM heater. Measure. 8.13 mm in from body gasket line. Measure up 8.13mm from body bolt relief. Drill 13.31mm deep with G index drill (.2635). Tap with 8x1.25.
