Aluminum Idler Wheel?

I ended up getting some extra parts with my sled "2009 D8" that were not installed and had a couple questions prior to installing them.

The first thing was the Aluminum Idler wheels, I went to have them installed and the technician informed me that he doesn’t recommend it since small rocks can get in between the wheel and the belt chewing and cutting it up faster. He also explained that for the most part they are just for looks. Has anyone seen this problem or have a reason not to run them?

Second was a pair of a-arm float plates, the same technician said they are great for a lot of pow but if you get stuck or buried. You will have a lot of work ahead of you to dig out the front. All in all he said they were not worth the pain if I get stuck. Any thoughts

Third are a pair aluminum torsion spring adjusters, I was told if you have never bottomed out don't change them until you are doing stuff big enough to matter.

Lastly I have ES that I took of the sled and would like to sell it. HOw much are they worth?

The guy is really honest and I have had others say he's a great tech. But I just wanted others feed back. Thanks in advance.

I have a billet big wheel kit and have had no problems with it. I also put billet idlers and boogie wheels on would not recomend the tend to freeze up and stop turning until you bust them free went back to the stock wheels. still running the big wheel kit though.

Here's my opinion:
- Aluminum wheels are just for "bling". Besides icing up and holder extra snow when they are cold, they do not bend/give like a plastic wheel and could break and then cause damage to either your track, rails, hifax.
- Float plates on your a-arms aren't needed and do hold snow and ice.
- Aluminum torsion spring adjusters. Are you talking about the blocks that allow you to adjust the pre-tension on your springs (soft, medium, firm)? If so, just bling again.
- Electric start. Do you have to whole kit (clutch with drive sprocket, starter with cable extension, and battery? It's worth at least a couple of hundred if complete.

Sell it all and buy something that you need/want.
