alpine or tog

never been to either place, and planning a trip this winter. which has the best riding? ( open country, bowls, meadows, and the steep) does either compare to cooke city, where we normally go?
thanks for the input

you named like four or five different types of riding. As far as open land Togwotee is your place but as far as technical riding and technical climbing goes I would go to Alpine.

We own a cabin rental business "Rockin' M Ranch" here in Alpine. It is like no other place to stay in Alpine. Nice cabins with full kitchens, gas fireplaces, direct tv, covered decks, gas barbeque and hot tubs. We also rent Polaris sleds. I would be head you in the right direction for good riding. Also alot of more open type boondock riding on the Idaho side, more similar to Togwotee. Our place sits in the Wyoming side about a 1/2 mile from the Idaho border. Either trail sytem is within 5 miles. Check us out at rockinmranchwyoming.com or call Rob at 307-654-2288

I believe both are pretty awesome. It just depends on who gets the snow. Last year Tog got the snow. Maybe this year Alpine will get it. Alpine is a little steeper and more technical for the most part, but Tog is pretty technical in areas as well. (Usually posted with a wilderness area sign) ;)

Not that I'm promoting going into thoose areas! Just seems like those are the steepest areas. Probably why they don't want us riding there.

You can't go wrong at either place, just depends on the snow.

Buy my trailer and you don't need to make reservations anywhere, so you can go where the snow is, not where the reservation was made 6 months prior! :D

thanks everyone, captaindean, we might take ya up on that or at least just point us in a direction.

rob, i'll check your place out, sounds good,

i hear there's more crowds at tog, alpine sounds like maybe more freshies

were comming from state of wash so alpine's a little closer drive

also bringing the wifes, but they can hold there own with there 800 153"

prob be middle of feb. hope ya have a little (LOT) fresh stuff and some sun so were not fogged in. wishfull thinking

thanks

Hell, go to both, Togwotee is only an hour and 45 away if the roads are decent! Stay in alpine for a couple of days, then head to togwotee after riding one afternoon, grab some dinner in Jackson (sidewinders is good) and then head to togwotee for a couple of days

Good point. A couple coffees or beers and you'll be to Jackson. If you've never seen the Tetons before, you'll hardly notice the drive to Togwotee.

thanks everyone, think we might take the advice and hit both, 2 days at tog and 1 at alpine.

how long does it take to drive from jackson to tog

also is it better to stay at turpin meadow or tog lodge, or a motel in jackson?

if ya stay at turpin do you trailer to the pass to save sled gas or do you ride from the cabins at turpin?
