Alpha Drive Shaft Nut Torque?

Anybody know what the torque spec is for the steel nuts on the aluminum drive shaft? These are the large nuts on the brake caliper (left) end of the drive shaft.

I took mine off with a chisel and a hammer since i did not have a tool and it wasn't THAT hard to, Many also do the same thing, So.... I used the same thing for tightening them except I used a bunch of loctite. I also marked them with lines so I can do a visual check incase it had tried to start to move/back off.

Make sure you get them tight. My riding buddy did an Alpha conversion on a Suzuki and had both of these fall off and bounce around in his clutches.

You can use a older 4x4 hub socket just take the nut down to local autoparts 16070326001725181129582845653167.jpg

After taking mine apart and back together a few times I wouldn't trust the hammer and punch to get them torqued correctly. And I've used that method on a lot of things before. The Cat socket is the same one used for the later M-series driveshaft nuts with the square lugs on them. It kind of has a sloppy fit on the nuts (back and forth not a diameter issue). I like Kiliki's idea of the hub socket. Probably fits as well at 1/2 the price.

Cool mine came loose last year and I don’t trust the punch and hammer method either. Proper torque is a must in my opinion

The socket is strong enough that it handles the torque no problem. I wouldn't use an impact gun on it though just to be safe.
