Its almost here guys what are your plans. I am planning an otc archery hunt in colorado and maybe a muzzleloader hunt in NM in unit 15 just haven't decided if i want to drop that much coin for a landowner tag. So lets hear your plans and post up some pics if you are succesfull. Good luck

OTC archery elk in Colorado as well. Hoping to sleep during the day, and drive around at night and hit one with my pickup. Sure saves a pack. :D OTC archery antelope starts this Sat., and my archery deer tag is for 9 weeks (Oct-Dec). Guess I won't be breaking out the .270 this year.

Jet boat across a reseivor and hunt a new spot that looked promising 2 years ago but couldn't access last year due to low water, and hunt my usually spot out a thayne WY.

After 15 years (11 years of preference) finally drew a bull tag for the Northern Black Hills, the hardest tag to draw in So.Dak. Saved some vacation days, gonna hit it hard probably my only chance, doing it for my Dad also, he always wanted to go elk hunting and we put in together for many years until he died of cancer 4 years ago.

i have put in for 17 yrs for a bull tag next to the home place in the breaks and finally got one, was huntin there last year for a cow for the fatherin-law, seen 114 bulls in one day, i don't think i'll have a problem findin one i like:D

trying to get a week off work.

If that happens, I'll probably sit in camp and sleep other then opening day.

If it's brown (and a gddamn spike) it's DOWN....Thank god we don't have those grey wolves in central Wa yet. If I see one ...IT'S down TOO!!

20 years ago my wife (intensive care nurse) was talking with a respiratory therapist about my elk habit, and he mentioned he grew up on a ranch in idaho.....went up and talked to his dad about hunting there and he agreed...his ranch borders the national forest and he had a cabin with a woodburning stove in it i could use for free...been going there for 20 years and have taken 9 6-7 point bulls....opening morning will find me in my favorite spot, shots range from 350 to 450 yds....358 mag does the easy part

Shoot a big ole pig opening morning then spend the next 30 days watching all the new sled video's in the camper while lounging in the mtns. Oh, I might take the video camera out and shoot a few bulls that way too :)

Unit 15 is worth the money, my personal favorite in NM. Might buy that tag next year acutually, either that or nevada 231 deer.

Busy schedule coming up but...
Gonna try to get my dad a 380 bull we have been watching on a over the counter general area in utah sunday with his bow. Then i will be guiding deer hunts for a couple weeks, then off to idaho for a week chasing elk with my bow, then back to utah to guide deer until October 28th, then i have 5 days to hunt for my buck, and then i am off to Gunnison Colorado with my dad for the 3rd season rifle hunt. We are going for his 3rd 190 buck in a row in the gunnison basin with a landowner tag. Can't wait!... And i have a antelope tag out of casper wyoming i am hooping i can sneak out for a couple days and try to fill, we'll see though on that one.

Follow the wolf packs and just pick up a head I guess

This is close to the truth around here too, I've put in 25 days archery hunting the last two years and have only seen 8 head of elk. And this is an area I've hunted for 5 years prior to that and thought I had dialed in. I might just go explore to find another spot.

Elk are getting wiped out in this area. Might just give them a break this year and try to bag me about 15-25 wolves instead

drew an archery bull tag about 10 mins from my house.. so i have decided to take most of the month of september off to hunt.. last year we got several bulls over 350 on video.. so hopefully I can stick one with my bow  :D:D:D:D

our season just opened on 15th but i cant go out untell 14th of sept hope they are in rut at that time , its in the Halfway river area

Well just got home.. We chased the bull all saturday afternoon and then this morning.. spotted the bull first thing when we got there in some quakies rubbing off some velvet still left on his horns.. Got within 70 yards of him but it is hard this early. We are gonna leave him alone for a couple weeks and go up on the last week and maybe we can perk him up and get him coming in then.

We did see a 195" deer on our CWMU that I am gonna try to set up on opening morning, i will have to get a better look at his left back fork (behind a bush this morning so couldn't really tell how well of a fork it was) though before i pull the trigger. I can't wait for september 11th!

Any other Utahan's get out this weekend? lets see some pics of some dead ones

After hunting every friggin day last archery season and only seeing one bull and a handful of other hunters who decided to follow me, I decided to take this season off. Save the money for sleddin and the new baby.

Next year I'll hit it hard again!
