So hey check this out .......I got a guy that wants to buy my sled ....ok

at the same time I am in the process of of buying a new truck so as to haul on the ice roads .....but this time for myself .....it seems that with your own truck with a certain company hauling to the Diamond mine at Diavik one has the opportunity to make 45-50,000 a month....

now do I sell my sled and be without this year as I will be gone from Jan 12th - April 2.....

ofcourse the sled money will help me survive for the first month as I haul heavy loads for this certain company....apparently I can earn over 125,000 for 2 months ..

what would you do ???

Dpoesnt seem that difficult to me. If you are looking to drive the roads, you are not gonna be home to use your sled and it will just sit. That is some big money to turn down.

I would sell then go battle with the "Polar Bear":D

Short term loss for long term gain.
Sell your sled to finance your trucking. If it even works out to 50% that is still over 60k for a couple months. You would be CRAZY to pass this up.

Hey Mike, I did a somewhat similar thing last year, and it's by far the best thing I personally ever did. Of course, I don't have a wife and four kidlets at home to worry about, either... It can't be cheap to operate one of those rigs for the winter, but i'd imagine you'd still do well enough after expenses...

Good luck, and keep us posted!

wouldnt think twice about selling it to make that kind of coin!!!

GO FOR IT!!! it will put you so much further in the long run....

PLUS, MAYBE WE CAN SEE YOU ON T.V.!!

The cash would be very cool but is it worth being away from the family for a few months? Don't know your situation but definitely something to consider. Money come and goes, when family time is gone, its gone. Whatever you decided, make sure everyone feels that they had a vote in making the decision.

What will you net?

$120,000 in 2 months tells us nothing.

What are the KNOWN expenses.
Then what are the POSSIBLE expenses if thing go rough.
Make your plan according to worse case scenarios, then if it is still worth it,
the good time will be a bonus.
But if it is not worht it under rough conditions, stay with you family.

Life on the road changes you, your spouse and your children. You become
"comfortable" being apart. In some cases you become uncomfortable being
home. You, wifey & kids may find yourselves with thoughts like.....
"would be good if he went out on the road for awhile again".

If you are living comfortabley now, why do it?

If you do something for the money, but you would rather not do it, that makes you a wh0re.
Those nights alone can be very hard on your self esteem.

I can't beleive you are buying a new truck for that. I thought that all trucks had to be worn out pieces of chit up there so that everyone could sit around compaining about their broke down truck and how much money they are losing. But on the serious side, that is the only way I would go up there, New equipment.

well I have spent considerable time on the roads and have been on the ice before ....I would never take anything less than 1-2 year old truck ie the one I am dealing on is 07 with 168,000 KMS so hardly broke in .....

has every amenity known to man and is still under all warrenties ..

as far as doing it for 3-4 months and then relaxing at home taking odd jobs for the rest of the year with it kinda makes sense

the dude that I am buying it from netted 105 grand after expenses , fuel , insurance ect..last year on the same run

we are one seriously tight family so we have been through alot and have come out ok .....will send for them after a few weeks to go to either Edmonton or Yellowknife for a few days for visiting time ....and will do that 3-4 times during the duration.

you guys are a great sound board

we aren't doing all that well with the 9 2 5 deal.....its not entirely the money ....I do love it ...its the only thing that makes me happy

If it makes you happy and your family is DEFINITELY cool with it. Go for it especially if you have experience with the ice. See a lot of newbies wash out quickly on the TV show.

Then pick up a good mountain ride and stay in AK for an extra few days as long as your there and RIDE when your done! Come home and everybody happy.:D

Screw all this talk about your family will be torn apart, blah, blah, blah. Let's get down to the REAL deciding factors!!! What's the ride man??? You said it was an 07, but 07 what??? Kenny, Pete, Freightshaker, what?? What's under the hood? HP? What rear ends? Any Pushers?? Come on, pony up, give us the goods, then we can help you decide!! Pics would help us decide. If you don't have dual alternators for your lighting system, you aren't running enough lights. Lets get to business and help you decide!!

On a serious note though, does the guy selling have a legit reason for selling?? If he's nettin' 105 G's and selling, he better be moving on to something ALOT better, or you might be getting bamboozled!!!
