Alittle help please?

Hi there, I am looking to get a sled and I am really new to this. I would love some advice from you guys that are familar with them. I am looking a a couple different ones and open to any. I have found that they are like everything else and everyone has there opion on what is best.
I have found a 07 ski doo 800 151" track that is low miles. Also a 2005 rmk 900 159". I am a new rider only been out a couple times. Is the 900 to much for me? To big to controll for a newbie? I found a couple places on the web that state the 05 900's have alot of issues? I havent found much on the ski doo. I would really appriciate any help you guys could give me or any suggestions as well. Thanx

All sleds now days are good. It just depends on what you think feels good. I have a 2004 Vertical Edge you might be interested in. It is an awesome sled and i'm not sure if i want to sell it. But my friend offered me a Dragon at a really good price so i might put it up. I'd be happy to let you try my sled.

You can search the forums; polaris, skidoo, cat, yamy, and see what kind of problems people are having with there sleds.

If your right thumb doesn't have problems with spazzing on you a 900 will be just fine. If you have no control over your throttle thumb though, you might want to look at a 120cc.

A little advice:

Go at your own pace, push yourself a little, and get through the challenges. Pretty soon you will be looking for the challenges. (and alwayse be aware of snow conditions, and avalanche dangers. Know when to stay off of the big hills). Have fun NSY

Summitfreak, I would really love take a look at your sled. What kind of price range would you be looking at? I would like to hear some more info on your sled if you are serious about getting a new one. I really would love to get out their and try a few out to see what I like. I took a M8 out once last year and had a great time, but really it was what I would call my first time so how could it not be a blast. Any way let me know.

My sled has exactly what my sig. says. It has the updated crank bearing for safety reasons. There is about 160 miles on the new motor this season. There are a total of about 1060 miles on the whole sled. It is an awesome sled. Just got back from a awesome ride today

I would like to be 5500 or so. I guess I would like to just find the best bang for my buck. 2005 rmk 900 159" 280 miles $4800.00 I think this is an okay deal but I dont know if it is the best sled for me?

5500 you may want to try to find an 06 REV for that or an M7. I would stay away from the 900 tractor, they climb but are heavy and plagued with crank probs.

All brands are made well but also have issues, I would take a look at Summit freaks and pass on the 900.

Go look at the ski-doo 07 and as many others as you can, I assume that you look at http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=231&cat=146 (great place to find stuff)

Keep your options open, lots of time left to play.

Thanks for the imput guys, I will let the 900 go and keep on the hunt. I have found that the used m7's are alittle tougher to find with lower miles. I guess their is a reason for that though right. They are the ones that are getting rode. Thanks again

I've had an 04 Doo Rev 800, then sold it for an 05 M7 because I wanted a turbo and EFI is too nice for a turbo.

I really really miss the ergo's of the rev. I even rented an XP last year and was happy to get back on my rev. The feet placment and weight placement was awesome for mountain riding. Not too comfortable for sitting and road riding, but for playing, I haven't ridden anything more comfortable than my rev. The Doo 800 motor has 300% more power off idle and low RPM as the M7 as well. I also like the clicker and belt clearance adjustments on the rev more too, although the clutching on the M7 seems more consistant, its not nearly as adjustable.

The 06 is supposedly the best year for the rev, 07 had a bunch of clutch and crank problems, but if it were me, i'd get an 04 or 05, they seem to be $1500 less. I sold my 04 800 rev with 2000 miles on it in November for $3800, and i've seen them on KSL for around there a bunch. If you can save close to $2000 and ride a machine that is 95% as good, I think thats a good deal.

I guess I should throw out that my M7 le feels a lot lighter than the rev, and if you ever think you'll pony up for a turbo, EFI is the only way to go! I am currently riding the M7 as a turbo and LOVE the power, but I must say, I get a little misty eyed and envious every time I pass a REV and really wish I had the gumption to strap a turbo on a carb sled, then I make a few adjustments on my boondocker box and feel a little better about the whole situation!

Long story short: 04-05 Rev, pay no more than $4000, maybe even get a 600 if you feel like EFI is necesarry or want to save a little on gas and oil. OR, buy my Turbo M7 so I can get a turbo M1000. $8500

this one looks like a sweet deal. I also have and RMK 800 151 for 3k if you want something cheaper.
