Patience Grasshoppers, this has taken a turn but it is going to happen, hopefully with in the next two days. Details shortly. Oh, just to give you a hint there is not much snow left on the Mesa as of today!

Wonder what the new name will be??????????????

What was the name the Indians called Grand Mesa??????

The Ute Indians called Grand Mesa “Thunder Mountain”, standing at Land’s End Overlook with the Grand Valley spreading more than a mile below, one can watch the spring and summer thunderstorms march across the landscape. This breathtaking 63 mile drive from I-70 climbs through the dusty canyon of Plateau Creek to the cool alpine forests of the mesa top.

At 10,000 feet above sea level, with 300 stream fed lakes wildlife abounds. Elk and deer, bobcats and mountain lion, bears and foxes in their natural habitat. Beaver ponds create spawning grounds for native cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout.

A natural experience, not just a pretty drive. Keep in mind there are no services between Cedaredge and Mesa. Also note that the spur road to Land’s End Overlook is closed in the winter months.

For more information contact: Grand Mesa Byway Association, P.O. Box 122, Cedaredge, Colorado 81413 (800) 436-3041.

"Thunder Mtn" is correct...............but it was also called "Home of the Departed Spirit" due to the Ute burying many dead up on the mountain.

I think we'd all like Thunder Mountain a bit more............
