Alaska proof saw?

Have searched around the forums and see that the gerber saw is recommended however one of the sourdoughs I talked to said he snapped it like a twig and his recommendation escapes me.

Any recommendations, I'm a new rider and all the trees in Alaska have tracktor beams on them.

Saw

Not strong with you the Force is, HMMM.

I use the Voile saw/shovel combo from True North Adventure Gear. Its been great, used it winter and summer for the last 4 years, no problems. And I think its made in the USA.

I have the Gerber saw and really like it. Finally after about 5 years it started to pull apart on me last weekend, but I'll buy another. They cut through wood like butter.

Not so much. I have 4 days riding total and 2 of them were in waist to nipple deep pow thanksgiving weekend. I have spent more time digging myself out of alders then actually riding. I think I will cut down every alder on Kenai that way I'll only have to contend with those pesky pine trees.

hey

The best little hand saw I'v ever used was $3.99 in Fairbanks. I'v used for four years cutting hubs at work, and its flawless. Its got a brown handle, but no brand name on it though.

If you want a burly saw go look at drywall saws (also know as keyhole saws) they have started using the Jap. blade design that all folding saws have but have much thicker blades, which means more effort to cut but won't bend.

Check out the "G3 Bonesaw Snow Saw" I have used one, and it will cut wood, worked great. Check em out, they might sell one at AMH or Rei.
