air bag ?

my dads has an automated leveling system that is based off of ride height. pretty slick set-up.

i think he got it from TIME down in garden city
 
Deck or trailer? 2 sleds + trailer (depending on how long) I don't think you'll need air. If you're talking a deck + 2 sleds on an '08 DMax I would say airbags would just be a luxury. You could probably do 20-30 p.s.i. and have a pretty stable load. On my '04 Dmax I don't have the extra leaf spring, but it still takes a bit to squat it with no air. 28' bumper pull camper I put 35 p.s.i. and don't even worry about the equalizer hitch. 44' gooseneck loaded I'll put 70 p.s.i. and the truck sits basically at stock height. Mine is a crew cab short bet 2500. You will definitely love them anytime you have a good sized load on the truck
 
I put a deck and 2 sleds on my 12 duramax and havent had a problem without bags, it still runs *** end up not quite level.. also brought my 7x14 bumper pull enclosed loaded(about 5000) lbs??? across the country and had no issues either, no deck for that trip.

I could see needing it for a heavier trailer or if there were stability issues hauling the deck on nasty roads. I've been fine so far. Maybe hold off on the bags until you notice it being an issue?
 
its just one of those things your going to have to mess with but a good starting point would be around 30-40 lbs,i know you have to run a minimum of 10lbs in them at all times.
 
Going to put air bags on 08 d max was wondering how you know what is enough air in bags when loaded? Two sleds. Thanks

Dunno if I'm doing it wrong, but I just keep adding air til it feels right.

Too little, it sways a bit. Not sure I've found too much. Seems like 50-60psi is good with two sleds on the deck.

Too little, when you cross a drainage entering a parking lot, the truck pitches and sways pretty noticably. Add air, the topheavy feeling goes away.

You'll KNOW when there's not enough.
 
purely depends on each truck and each load. for my 01 2500 hd with a 2 inch leveling kit in the front... i use 40 psi when i have two sleds on my deck to keep a very slight rear rake. i put it up to 65 when i have two sleds on it and a 22 ft camp trailer.
 
I say to measure your clearance between top of tire and fender then do the same after loading, then air the bags up till it is level. My riderites say to keep a min. of 5 psi in them. I have been running 0 psi with no problems when not loaded. You willl like the better loaded ride and stability.
 
i run mine at 45 psi with 2 sleds. 25 psi with one sled. and 15 psi with just the deck. without deck bags sit at 5 psi.

with two sleds and pulling open 2 place trailer i usually do 55 psi. two sleds and enclosed 4 place I run 65 psi.
 
My 08 Dmax has a 4 in Rancho lift, but in only comes with 2 in blocks for the rear, so with no weight it sits perfectly level, so deck and 2 sleds make it squat, put airbags in this year and 40-50 is about right, doesn't ride too rough leaving that amount of air in them with no sleds either.
 
The way I figured how much my bags needed was. Get yourself a bubble level, check how the truck sits unloaded. Load the sleds, then add air until the level reads what it did unloaded. But as stated before do not exceed the max the bags support (I highly doubt you will get close.)
 
45 is just about right for my 00 f250... a little more or a little less depending on the sleds i wanna carry, but its not to bad to drive around like that dry and keeps me nice and level loaded down.
 
I am sure you have figured it out by now. But for my air bags, it said 10lbs air in bags for every 500lbs cargo. I have an 04 Dodge Cummins and a Raptor Fifthwheel trailer. I run about 55-60lbs in the air bags when pulling the Raptor, due to the 2500lbs tongue weight. Your owners manual/user instructions should tell you how much air to run in the air bags (depending on your cargo weight).
