I hardly have the money for a 2010, but they do have quite a bit more power? Is it worth the $2000? Was there any other significant changes?

Do it

Seat is different, and everyone has been singing their praises. I would spend the extra 2k if it was my pocketbook. Can't go wrong either way. To get the 09 to the 10 specs you're looking at adding money too it either way, which makes that 2k even less. Either way, enjoy!!

Hard to say if I'd really take my own advise, but it would be:

Get the 09 and use the money you saved for some Powder-Pro's, an AMP riser,10 mountain seat (from FreeAgent) and SLP pipe/clutching.

You will have a sled with proven reliability that handles better and has better ergo's than the 10 and still have around $500 left.

I'm waiting to see how the new engine does after all the major changes, and with Cat being as jewish as they are these days on warranty coverage I think it would be good piece of mind.

I love having the newest and best, but honestly really love my 09 and an very satisfied with it (after doing those things).

If the extra 2k is pushing go with the 09. I picked up a 10 but to get it ready for riding you will have additional money to put into it beyond the cost of the sled, belts, oil, vents, can, etc. If you get the 09 you'll be able to add those things and be right at or under the cost of a stock 2010.

I agree with everyone, get the 09 and then spend that extra money to make it how you want it, and still have money left in your pocket at the end of the day for fuel.

Great question! I am giving the boy my 2006 M7 this year, and I am leaning to the 2009 as well. "Sales" price is $9800 on the 2010 M8 162, then tax, accessories, can, blah, blah and you are $12,ooo. 2009 with low miles "wife" sled online probably around $7000. Left over is probably $8000 at the dealer. Do the mods Cameron suggests and you have a great sled at a great deal.

I would also go with the 09.... Think about it this way. If you havn't rode an 09 much your not going to notice the difference between them.... I owned an 09 and loved it.... I put it on here "just to see" if anyone would be interested in buying it for what I wanted.....3 days later... I bought a 2010.

what are you talking about? a 2010 should NOT handle any different than a 09', (the chassis and suspension didnt change at all) and in fact it has better ergos. the new seat alows for mucho better mobility around the sled for someone who sidehills or boondocks.

as for the motor reliability, time will tell.

if it were me I would go for the 2010, the power improvements they made this year would seal the deal for me.

Pretty sure he meant after mods are applied to the 09.

Why don't you read what you are quoting moron.

Add an AMP riser that moves the bars forward 1.5", and some good skis and it WILL have better ergo's and handle better than a 10.

If you are leaning towards the 2010 I will tell you what the guys at A.C. told us about the new engine. They said they have pushed this new engine far enough that if you add mods to it you will lose HP. If you get the 2010 I would give it a try stock and see what you think.

You have to be wrong, hav'nt you seen speedwerx dyno!

They are gettin a couple HP out of the Y pipe and 4-6 HP out of the single depending on your air intake setup. This motor is very finely tuned, but as always there is more to be had.

With the EPA regulations, just tuning the fuel correctly on any of the newer sleds usually yields performance increase.

Hey bud, go take chill pill.

No need to be a total di**. I questioned your statement, I have a different opinion than you, I could have called you a whole slew of names in regards to what i think of your opinion, but thats pretty immature.

we are all sledders here, entitled to our own opinions. but the name calling.....just childish.

Whatever.
I see that you went and cried to your forum momma and rated me "bad" for the post. What a sissy thing to do.

Did you really want to be a hall monitor in school or something?

Let's get this thread back on topic.

I love my 09 and I am sinking some cash into it to make some improvements that should allow it to perform similiar to the 2010. I would personally go for the 2010 and next year you can do a few upgrades if you want. In stock trim the sled hauls and is great, you don't have to put mods into it. If you can wheel and deal a good price on the 09 since it was last years stock, then that may be your best bet. I ran my 09 stock last year except for an SLP Intake and it was great.

If your not new to the sport, then you'll know that it is a money pit sport. You can sink as much money as you want into any sled. You will never come out ahead of the game financially, but you will come out with good times and great memories.

Haha! Are you kidding me? Sorry, but I didn't complain or say sh** to any mods! (Never have, never will, not my style) maybe I'm not the only one who thought that was rude, Or you treated someone else with total disrespect in some other thread? Either way, I'm too old for this high school bs.

BUT anyways,

I would spend my dough on a 2010 :)

My buddy just bought a 2010 HCR....

I bought a Skidoo a month ago. I wont lie. The dealer put an MBRP can on that sled and we fired it up on a stand....I havent ever heard an essentially stock sled sound like that. The thing is like a machine gun. Pull the throttle and it barks harder and revs out its track so fast I was shell shocked. My 09' XP with an 800R, High comp head, HPS can sounds like a turd comparitively.

That sled sounds and runs like its race ported....

I'm feeling a little envy over my buddy having this HCR and me having a dime a dozen XP.

This thing is absolutely nasty! At this point I'm just hoping when the snow flies that my good clutching and compression bump will keep me in the game! IMO this has to be one of the best looking sleds ever sold off any showroom. Its that trick.....
