Im looking into a pipe for my pro
Slp?
Dynoport?
BMP?

SLP: 12hp...Pipe+PCV+Reeds=$1250 :face-icon-small-sho
No weight saving i believe, Pain in the butt to remove reeds if needed for warrenty.

Dynoport: 6.5Hp drops 18 pounds! y pipe+pipe+can=$875
no fuel controller, no reeds, simply bolt on.

BMP= 7hp (10hp with powercommander)..dont know about weight... Just the pipe= $450 (pcv+300)

Let me know what you guys are running? Who likes what? why?
None of these numbers are my personal tested numbers. Just what i have researched.

Im leaning towards Dynoport as I like the idea of a simple quick switch if warrenty work is required. and 6.5 horse and -18lbs!!!:face-icon-small-hap

Wanting others input/opinion!

Dynotech is supposed to be running all of these pipes soon. Same sled, same dyno but with 4 different pipe manufactures. I guess Aaen makes a pipe also.

Anyhow, the results of that test should be very interesting....

Also I have been curious why SLP has to have a heat shield and the others don't. Anyone know why?

Looking forward to this. None of them are cheap, it would be nice to know if it will be worth buying a pipe setup.

Wow, 18lbs. I would think that is pretty much a no brainer if you can pull 18lbs from the front of a 431 lbs sled. How much does the stock set up weight? Is there much more then 18lbs of metal to begin with?
Later, Cam-shaft.

I think the over all weight savings on my SLP set up was around 5-6 pounds. The SLP pipe is wrapped and is built for the increased performance. The hp increase seems about right. It for sure will not rip your arms off but it sure does help out the mid and seems to have really smooth, even power and crisp throttle. The sound is very close to stock. I also have a Tied clutch and this set up complements that very nice. In my mind, I would tend to shy away from major weight loss in the pipe/can dept. without some good real world #'s. SLP did a lot of testing with theirs and gave honest hp #'s. I have around 300 miles on this install at 9000' and so far it has been flawless just like the sled.

To clarify,
7.6hp is the pipe kit with PCV(no reeds). Pipe kit saves about 4 pounds. Reeds add another 4hp on top of the pipe kit for a total of about 12 hp. The reeds are not required, but are a good value. Yes, they do take a bit of work to install.

Dustin

Thanks for the clarification Dustin! 12 horse sounds much better.
Now how are the reeds holding up in the 11 800?
There was lots of threads about them chipping off and causing 08-10 800 to go down.
That is not something I wanna deal with.

I forgot to mention the reeds. I do have them installed but why would anyone go thru the work of installing a set up with performance increase on the mind and not install them? Anyway, I did a good post trip inspection last time back and the kit/reeds are fine. Reeds are a pain for sure but I have run VForce reeds in every sled I have ever owned with zero problems. Also forgot to mention the SLP intake and powder valves and I also installed a Fire-N-Ice headlight elimination intake kit. Not sure it needs all that air but it's getting it.

Ya i agree, do it right the first time or dont do it at all.
Now im wondering if polaris would do warrenty work on a motor that has v force reeds installed?
as they have them advertised online in there "pure acessories" catolog.

slp pipe

have the slp pipe and reeds, ran it as speced with the power commander,1000 to 5000ft. at around 1500 ft at 5500 to 6000 rpm det light would come on .motor would also run really rough at this rpm. would cut out bad just off idle. took pwer commander off and sled runs good , smooth through out the power band with no flat or lean spots, there is also no comparision to stock. the pipe works well.

Today Casey Mulkins and I dyno tested/ tuned a 70 hour stocker with Aaen, BMP, DynoPort and SLP pipes, and created dandy PCV maps for all. Also Casey's cylinder shim/ head slice to match was tested and mapped, and when timing was optimized we made huge power gains, matching the ETEC and M800 power with stock pipe. And we made even more with the aftermarket pipes. All will be posted on DTR by tomorrow PM.

if it is available in the polaris accesory catalog it is good to go as far as warranty, I put VF-3's in my dragon and they never had an issue with them...same with the slp vents....
