Im wondering what everyone is doing with intakes on their D8's

I know Mtn Fit has an intake shelf for their hoods

What about people running mesh hoods(diamond s, skinz, r and m)? No intake shelf?

How about spring riding with no hood?

Ideas?:face-icon-small-con

Thanks!

The Skinz hood utilizes a cone with prefilter material that attaches above the airbox. It works really well. Eliminates the worry of snow starving the intake and because of the hood it is always fed cool air. I don't know why, but when Skinz added the mesh hood my MPG improved as did performance. :noidea: Underhood heat must have been throwing off a sensor or something is all I can figure.
Anyway, contact Skinz for info on the cone. Just click the link in my signature.

Ski.

if i was got get a mesh hood, i would get the SKINZ one personally..

the Diamond S hood i have heard they let the fine pow in cause the mesh is bigger..

but of coarse you want it for spring style riding, but if your gonna drop the dime on a hood...get one thats worth it to use any time of the year..

gonna try and make it up there one more time this year for a final ride, but not sure if i can make it or not..

For spring riding I left my clutch cover panel off. Clutches ran so much cooler you could hold your hand on them after many pulls, with cover on (vented cover too) it would burn your hand... 08 D8.

I have a couple mountain fit iq hoods plus picked up an air shelf that I plan on installing at some point, but the hood will need complete venting done to it. One of those "when I get around to it" projects...

I'm running a mountainfit hood and shelf with the Timbersled intake behind the Fire N Ice orignal headlight (no prefilter) I use the shelf mainly to isolate under hood heat and to keep a majority of the snow dust coming through the headlight off the engine and clutches. the timbersled intake with the prefilter takes care of any snow ingestion. I didn't get a chance to run it enough to report any long term mpg numbers or seat of the pants performance.

i am a HUGE fan of Bill (Mountainfit hoods) products, i have his hood on my sled...

if you are NOT looking for a mesh hood...his hood is my number 1 choice. if you are looking for a mesh hood, i vote SKINZ.

I will be running another MF hood on my new build this summer..
