Aftermarket belt drive, void warranty?

I call BS on this one!!

I had a Polaris rep (at ISOC Lake Geneva Snow X) yesterday tell me that the warranty would be voided if a person changed the QD belt drive to an aftermarket belt drive. I call BS.

So this would mean that know one can change gears either?

Anyone know the facts here?

Engine components can void warranty, anything else?

I would say that doing so would void warranty for drive-line items, but shouldnt void your engine warranty.

But... I think it all comes down to your dealer, and how they handle things.

Typically depends on whether damage is related to or due to use of a non-oem part - e.g. engine failure with a non-oem filter - if due to lost oil pressure caused by non oe part then you are out of luck. If the engine failed because of overheating due to water pump failure they cannot use non- OE filter as a reason to deny warranty.

I also had a Polaris dealer in Denver try to sell me a reusable oil container where I could get a better price on Polaris oil from their dealer. I told him I use AMSOil and he told me that if I don't use Polaris oil that I could void my warranty. I told him that the Magnuson-Moss Act prevents this from being true. He stepped all over his own words at that point. I think he just wanted me to go away before others heard what I said.

That dealer is full of BS. If you use an aftermarket belt drive, it will void the QDS system and could have an impact on drive components being warrantied. But they will have to prove that change impacted other potential problems (like warranting a motor issue).

is it just me or are people in general more concerned about keeping their warranty than having a sled that works for their needs. I have never been concerned I'd rather ride it like it was mine not like the manufacturer still owned it.

Keeping your warranty ensures you have a sled that works for your needs.

case in point. my brand new prormk has a blown motor and is sitting in the shop un-rideable. so glad I'm not forking out $3500 for a motor like last year when my out of warranty 2011 pro motor blew up at 1200 miles. warranty is saving my butt this year!!!

but the manufacture would have to prove that the new drive system was the cause of what ever failure you are trying to warranty... most of us dont have the legal resources to fight the manufacture and just accept their decision, or we have spineless dealers who wont go to bat for you...

I think " the spineless dealer" part is the real answer for the OP.

Most OEMs have a customer service # that takes you to a third party. The fine print always says "see your dealer we don't deal they do". Or something like that lol.

Crazy, what do people do that dont buy new. They must be crazy! Man can you imagine putting a $3500 motor into a edge chassis?! Retarded....
