Should I just sell the sleds and shut down my small business????? It sure doesn't sound good for the future of our sport. Seems our voices go unheard over those of "Washingtonians" and the Government.

:mad::mad:

I still want to thank the people at SAWS, BRC, ARRA and the many other organizations that work so hard to fight to keep our lands open.

Yea I just finished reading it too. With all the backers behind it and the SHORT list of poeple on our side. It feels like we are losing huge, but it pizzs me off and gets to to continue to nagg the crap out of my friends to help who ride sleds or atvs, bikes ect that don't try and be active in stopping closures.

Getting more people involved is a must

First off, the article wasn't meant to demoralize anyone.

The Article.
http://www.snowmobile-alliance.org/...adless_Sage_Continues_-_where_will_it_end.htm

Second.
There's actually some reason for hope in all of this. At least I see hope.

The 9th circuit court never anaylzied the Clinton Roadless Rule. So, that court case has yet to be heard by them. The Clinton Roadless Rule's EIS NEPA was found to be flawed by about 14 different courts. Looking at the Clinton Roadless Rule, I can't see how the 10 Circuit, can possibly side with it. Unless, someone gets to them.

So, we have like 20 years more litigation to go through, before this thing is settled.

Like I said, I see hope. I may be in the minority though.

Given the current political environment we find our self in, I am not so sure it will take 20 years to go through the system.

Wade I'm not sure if so much demoralizing, but really does fire up me up to get more people involved.

I don't want it going for 20 years. I want it dead.

Big wish but I can dream right?

I was not exactly happy to see these lies posted by our state officials...:mad:

“This is a great victory for Washingtonians, who have long stood for the protection of our roadless areas,” said Gov. Chris Gregoire. “These special places provide clean water, fish and wildlife habitat, and priceless recreational opportunities for Washington families.

“Today’s victory is sweet for those of us who want to see our forests conserved for future generations,” said Attorney General Rob McKenna. “The conservation of natural resources is something that ALL state citizens strongly support. And that’s why we’ve made the legal defense of our environment a top priority.”

Apparently I must support wilderness too because I am one of the ALL of the citizens of Washington...

I know who I WON'T be voting for in the next election:mad:

Ken Salazar

I guess we can thank ex-senator of Colorado,Ken Salazar for much of the controversy on this matter.Since he is the new secretary of the interior, and has a total hard-on for the closures of our lands,i won't even go into the feelings i have for this Mexican-American,who thinks he can come into our country and start taking!!If anyone in CO.or other states know of this a-hole let me know what you think,he is literally the head of this whole organization, couldn't believe when Obama appointed this jerk,i knew it was over when he did.

years ago SAWS stopped a closuer and kept my riding open.maybe its time more people pull there head out, join up and get involved.

Getting people involved is the number one necessity to get anywhere with land use issues. How to accomplish that is another question.....which I've been struggling to find the answer to for many years. They always seem to pay attention once the signs go up. Usually too late by then though. I fail to understand why environmental groups can motivate people, yet we can't get the motorized recreationalists to open their eyes until it's too late.

Sorry for the rant.....it's a bit of a sore spot with me.:(

Edit: I just checked out of curiousity....General Snowmobiling 126 viewing, Land Use Issues 3 viewing. My point???

Environmentalism is a Religion. Your saving the world, helping the animals, stopping global warming, saving an animal's home, protecting a tree, creating a fairytale land where the animals talk and live free and happy blissful lives, amoungest the singing trees, blah blah blah blah blah.

Some of them just get off on destroying others enjoyment. There was a thread on here, about people not being able to sleep the night before sledding, because they where so excited. I can't think of one other sport that does that. Some people live and breathe snowmobiling. Others just want to deny snowmobilers their joy. It's the hundred pound weakling forcing the big bad sledder to do what he commands.

Maybe we'll have a civil war, and we'll just not care about wilderness after that.

Exactly! But snowmobiling is a religion to most of the sledders I know too. I guess it's all in how you "practice" your religion. You'd think that anyone who loves snowmobiling so much would be willing to fight for it. Doesn't seem to work out that way though.

yeah, but unlike the smelly hippies, we have jobs & businesses to run, some have at least one of each

we're up against the forest service as well, dirtballs running the system are on the side of the wilder-nuts

SkiDoobyDoo had some good points there.

I have a theory, and it's just based off observation and talking to people. That in the back of the mind of snowmobilers, and any sport like it, where there's lots of adrenalin an excitement, and a little danger, and a lot of cost. That in the back of your mind; somewhere, most snowmobilers kinda secretly wish the sport to be shut down. Kinda like a drug addict coming out of the fog, and wishing someone would make him stop. I don't know how to explain it better than that. I've just noticed it, in lost of people I've talked too.
