After bending over & taking it for so long...........

Until we in the US start drilling oil and producing our own fuel, you will continue to see outragous fuel prices.

We need to dril Anwar, we need to build refineries.

Until we can FORCE (at gunpoint if necessary) the enviro-nazis to back off and let us take care of ourselves, nothing will change.

now here is a stupid (or ignorant if you like) question.
If we can produce bio-diesel, sythetic oil, why can't we produce a sythetic fuel??

They probably already have the "know how" do produce this said "synthetic fuel" but why would they?

How many fueled up today? I know I did, and my fuel isnt near some of the prices you guys are paying ($3.15 for Regular) People will just find other ways to cutback on there fun to fuel up to go to work. I work with a guy that drives from Denver to Gillette (5.5hours each way) Every week and thats gotta be killing him. All his overtime goes to paying for fuel for him to get to and from work

He's stay and work in Denver but he gets paid twice more than what he does down there. God bless my economy

Good ideas, but how about maybe we (Meaning everyone that possibly can) pick a weekend a month and not drive at all? The Not buying on certain days is a farce. But not burning it might hurt em. we could also slow down the Chinese industrial oil consumption a little by not buying so many of their goods

Good ideas!
We do our part.
We rarely go anywhere unless we have to.
NOT going to give up the 4wd's though.

I get a kick out of you guys...

Watch the greenies again. Huge solar project close to the Borrego State Park (dessert) and... a thermal energy project using Salton Sea. They want to run the transmission lines through the park along the route that now has 70' wood pole lines. Replace with the tall metal towers.

Greenies going beserk. Hey, it's green power that you wanted... but how the he$$ are we supposed to get it to San Diego County? Greenies don't want the "beauty" of the park spoiled. Of course idiots agree and most easterners don't even know it's a desolute dessert.

Even the founder of Greenpeace has come out in favor of nuclear power now and the greens are trashing him.

Oh yeah, was it Idaho just the other day that said no more coal plants in the state?? What about nuclear?? Maybe each state should be 100% responsible for their own electricity.

Aghhhhh

Nothing is stoping you from getting your welding or mechanic ticket, moving to Fort McMurray and pulling in 300k a year and paying 20% tax. Heck, you can even find guys that will pay to fly you in. Supply and demand, market economy...all that BS. You can feel sorry for yourself or do something about it....the American way, correct?

All this talk of trying to cut back as individuals is nonesense. China and India are growing faster than the US could ever slow down. Theres alot of dudes over there who's goal is to ditch their bike and buy a car. As long as OPEC is around, theres not much anyone can do.

Do you realize Congress tried to end or cut back on government subsidies & tax breaks to the oil companies?
Did you know it was our beloved GW Bush that threatened to veto such action, thus killing it?

This is assenine!
We subsidize & give tax breaks to what is among the most profitable industries in the nation.
WTF!!!:mad::mad::mad:

So you want to raise taxes on the oil companies? How do you think that will effect fuel prices? GW is right. Read this.

Not at all.
I want to see them pay taxes in proportion to the profits generated.
GW is giving them a free ride & it's gone on far too long.

Not at all? You just said GW is giving them a free ride, and that they are not paying in "proportion to their profits". So lets try again. Do you want to raise taxes on the oil companies?

I am not saying raise their taxes.
I am saying take away their tax breaks, & subsidies.

Windfall taxes on oil company profits are a HUGE reason why we're forking over money to countries like Veneuezla, etc ...

They tried that in the 70's, remember? That was brilliant ....

weetee,
You talk like the oil companies are in this with us, feeling the pain & barely scraping by.

Truth is quarter after quarter, year after year, they continue to post record profits, while we literally have families having to choose between fuel or food.

I am not against anyone making a profit.
But I don't think it's right for our tax dollars to thrown at them while they are taking advantage of the fact that we need their product.
They are taking advantage of the fact that they can literally charge whatever they want.

Listen, I know I don't have all the answers, but convince me how giving these companies subsidies & tax breaks is a good thing for the American taxpayer?

Nice to see someone hit the nail on the head instead of bashing the pres. By the way it is important to note the fuel price escalation began just after the DEMs took control or congress. The only way this trend will change is domestic supply and more refineries, blame the real culprits the envoiormental whackos and the DEMs not the pres, he certainly isn't perfect but the alternative would have been a disaster. Swampy:D

My Gawd, just answer the question. Do you want to raise taxes on the oil companies? And if so, do you think that will cause the price of fuel to drop? (Please try to answer without a reference to starving people)

I am saying take away their tax breaks, & subsidies.

I thought this answered your question?

And no, it won't bring prices down.
But these dollars could certainly be spent elswhere where they could actually "help the situation".

Why are you having such a f****ng hard time understand what Mafesto is saying? It's one thing when the oil companies make a profit on the money I give them. It's another thing when my tax dollars are GIVEN to the oil companies by their brother George and I have no control over it. Taking away tax breaks is NOT raising taxes. When you conservatives see tax dollars given to poor people it's a waste of your dollars and those poor people ought to go out a get a damn job. Then why can't we say the same thinig about the oil companies? Quit giving them my tax dollars and let them earn their damn profits.

How frickin hard is that to comprehend?

Wow, why do I bother. OK, one more time for the liberal impaired.
So taking away tax breaks is not raising taxes? Removing subsidies that promote exploration is not raising taxes? Well comprehend this. IT IS! Exxon's tax liabilaty (thats the bottom line for you liberals) was $30 billion in 2007. Now explain to me how evil GW is giving your tax dollars to them.
(and please, please, no more bleeding heart starving people references.)
