Zeb and I took a late afternoon poke up in AF to see how ready our sleds were and see how much snow there was down here. We planned to head towards Mineral Basin rather than our usual route due to coverage but we couldn't find a river crossing to get into mineral so we broke trail up dry fork to the bottom of Bloody Gulch. After the turn to Dry Fork there was 3 to 5 feet total with little to no base. A few places over the hood and I did lay down a few carves that hit me in the chest. We mainly stayed on the trail to avoid carnage but even that was pretty deep all the way. We looked at Bloody and didn't think it had enough coverage to chance yet. We know the snow would be far deeper up top but with more coming and more ride days this week we decided to turn back. Snow was very dense and will provide a great base in the coming weeks.
