Aerocharger Pro RMK Feedback

Im looking into getting a Aerocharger turbo kit for the 213 pro that I have snowchecked. I like the aerocharger for the simplicty of the system. No oil tank or oil pump to mess with.

Im not going to be running big boost. Maybe 8 psi on 50/50 race and pump or even AV gas.

Im planning on putting on a BOOST-IT fuel kit, so im not real worried about how their controller works.

Just looking for feedback on anyone that has ran one of aerochargers 2012 kit on their pro. Good or bad before I throw down 5k.

Thanks

I think you'll be fine with the Aero...you should really consider getting it through Shane Hart at HMTurbos.com.
You can surely run less race gas at 8lbs with his set up.

Thanks for the link. I understand the advantage of intercoolers. My previous sled was a nytro with impulse kit. I ride in California and it seems like we have 1-2 deep days a year. I just don't see the advantage where I ride. If I was trying to squeeze every ounce out of the kit then maybe.

My cousin has a non intercooled silber kit and it rips.

Am I missing something? I could understand if we had huge pulls and deep powder all the time. But this will be my first turbo 2 stroke so my thought process could be off. Any help would be great.

i have more then 2500km on my hm turbo kit with our standalone ECU and it ran flawless all winter long....pull and go, at 8lbs on pump gas at sea level. i would highly recommand an intercooler for lower charging temperature(less heat=less prone to detonation=less damages and stress on internals), i have not seen more then 40 degree charging temp vs 100 degree without intercooler. checked pistons and cylinders and reeds last week and looked like new!!
Shane has a 100% working map for his turbos now with knock sensor and failsafe mode and electronic boost compensation for altitude riders....you will never look back after driving this combo.

Don't be offended but IMO ya you are missing something. the cooler not only helps you in the long pulls but also when going slower through the trees. the HM system is 100% independent from the engine cooling system. So when boondocking around your building a lot of heat under the hood.....snows always gonna be cooling that inter cooler even when goin slower keeping those charge temps really low and we all know that colder air makes more HP and that's the whole reason one puts a turbo on their sled right? I would think that a cooler would be more beneficial on days that the snow wasnt really deep too....probably warmer temps outside and more setup snow making your engine run a little hotter?

Just my thoughts.
I ran a HM turbo dragon for 3 seasons and it ran really really REALLY good and i am positive the cooler was a big part of that.

BINGO!!! The Charge temps in a non-intercooled Pro rise exponentially on the warmer days (above 35'F) and fighting off detonation is/has been a huge issue. Please do yourself a big favor and go with the intercooler. I hear you on wanting simplicity but this isn't an area where simplicity can be overlooked.

I realize you are going with an Aerocharger and my statement is based on results from a non-intercooled Areo this year BUT there is a big reason why Boondocker upgraded this area in 2012.

Not offended at all. I like the feedback, that's why I asked. Diamond you have a non inter cooled Aero now? Or a boon docker?

Is there a boost level and riding situation that a non intercooled system would work good?

Just curious why the kit builders would offer a non intercooled kit if im going to have problems.

intercooler

biggest reason is to lower the cost
the will all say you are better off with a cooler and it will be cheaper in the long run
you won't have buy as many pistons
cooler intake air keeps det down

I helped a buddy setup his M8 OVS non intercooled aero kit, he was worried about running boost as it was his first turbo, he had every big bore, high hp setup know to man NA. The one thing that I told his is to set it and dont touch it!

That thing has been ridden to death! rolled over, pinned WOT for huge long pulls and it just keeps on going! Its an honest 180 hp or so pump gas with a gallon or two of 110. He said he would never own another big bore/NA sled ever agin. Its completely changed my opinion on the aerocharger setup as well!

What kills aeros is overspinning the shaft/impellers the more elevation, bigger the motor, or higher the boost the faster you have to spin it which wipes em out.

as for intercoolers on the aero kit I wouldnt run one simply because of pressure loss, the aero's cant flow really big CFM or boost, an intercooler will hurt more than gain IMO on this setup.

If you have self control, arent looking for HUGE power, clean simple setup that works, its a great kit.

If your going to be running a boost-it fuel system why not just talk to neil about his whole turbo kit for the pro? It has to be one of the best kits if not THE best kit for the pro out right now? Might save you some money. 5grand for aero kit plus 2grand for the boost-it. not sure what is turbo kit will run but i believe it comes with water-air cooler as well.

I believe Niel's set up will run you around $8000

Here is a list of parts.

-Garrett 2863 GTX turbo
-2.5 stainless steel downpipe with 3 inch stainless muffler
-Boost-It XIC fuel controller 2.6
-Electronic boost control from XIC
-Water to air airbox with aux fuel rail and 2 aux injectors
-Ski mounted snow/ice scratchers
-Tunnel mounted heat exhanger for water to air system

There is no doubt that Neil has the best kit out there. I have actually emailed back and forth several times with him. Regardless what turbo kit I go with Im going to buy his fueling kit which is $1,000.00 and his new motor mounts.

I know it sounds to crazy to think about putting a turbo on a sled and trying to keep cost down...it just doesnt go together. But at 8k for his kit its just a little out of my league. Plus after comming off a Impulse Nytro (I honestly dont think I could of fit anymore shi* under the hood) im looking for something with the least amount of modding to the sled and a ultra simple design.

But yes you are correct, with the aero kit at 5k fo summer pricing and 1k for boost it im at 6k and it definitely will not even be close to Neils kit. But it willl lay the smack down on any N/A sled arouond my area....I hope.

I was actually trying to talk Neil into a non-intercooled kit but I dont htink he wants to do one....

I believe that he bought it from Shane last year. :boink:

He bought shanes kit for the 2011 season. He built his kit for the 2012 season and is just now going to release it for sale.

You could always go with a Silber turbo kit! around 4g's and bolt on in 6 hrs with no mods to the sled. I have installed several and they run flawlesly out of the box. I would give Justin a call

X2, if your looking for the best value id say silber, ive seen them out there brand new for $3200, brand new in box. His system is simple and works good. It dosent have the bells and whistles like some kits EBC, I/C etc.. but works good.

IM sure your concerned with the Dobeck boxes because of the bad mouthing they have gotten, but you need to realize 6 out of the 7 Pro turbo kits currently available to the public today all run the Dobeck.
If the Dobecks were such POS then 6/7 of the current turbo kits available today wouldnt be running them.

LOL funny you mention the new in the box price of $3200. I actually tried to buy it on ebay. But someone beat me to it. That was a steal of a deal.

Anyone know of any changes to Silbers 2013 kit or if he has any screaming deals on a 2012 kit? I sent him an email but no response as of yet.
