Advice on riser height..

My new sled is arriving over the weekend and I'm planning putting a riser block on it very soon.

What height so you recommend? Is there any recommendations as to haw tall I am or something?

I'm getting an FBF cable for it and the normal length make 4" max. Is 4" good enough for combined on and off trail? Some of the trail eunning will be with a sleigh towed behind, so I was thinking 2-4" would be good?

Also, any specific brand you recommend? I'm thinking og getting one from PowerMadd. It was cheap compared to a Polaris one...

How tall can I go before break cable and electrical wiring need to be modified?

Thanks for any help :)

Ive heard that u can run 4 inches of rise but i run 3 cuz i find that more comfortable for me! It sits at a good height for stand up riding and doesnt feel like ape hangers when sitting! Its all about how tall u r really. Im 5'11'' and 3 inch works for me so u can have a little bit of a baseline with that.

Related issue / Stiff

My throttle on my 900 is very stiff, compared to my 700 or 800 edge.

It has a 4 inch riser and the cable exteision. Seems like a lot of springs on the TBI.

Any ideas ?

How tall are you?

extending beyond 3" is putting a strain on the wiring harness which is already weak.

I would go 3" then. Less stress on everything and a good riding position. Go with a powermadd. thats what ive had since new and no problems and its cheap. lol:face-icon-small-hap

I have a 2" on my 900 and my buddy has a 3" on his. I'm 5'-11" and the 3" is perfect for me for stand up riding but I'm not un-happy with my 2" riser by any means... a little more comfortable when sitting down and easier to see the gauges.

Agreed, I would not go any higher then a 3" on these sleds, you start pulling your wires and such pretty tight at that point.

I would go with the 3" if I were you.

8" riser,fly brake line,fbf throttle cable,polzinhunter select delete,extend the wires,life is goooood....lol:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

Powermadd pivot adapter, and a 3" riser block gave me 6" over stock, rider select locked in at #4. Re-routed wires, throttle cable, and brake hose... no Issues.

so you got 6'' of bar rise, with the stock throttle cable, brake line and wiring??

You becha, although I must admit I did install an extended brake hose after.
A little work at re-positioning wiring got me all the slack in needed. The stock throttle cable just needed to be routed over the cylinder head. I have replaced the throttle cable as maintenance but the original still moved smooth as silk after 2 seasons like this. This is probably pushing the limits but I could find no wiring pull, tight throttle cable or any other problems after setting it up.

I should add that this is with stock bars, and I do not move the rider select, set up like this.... I cross drilled a bolt through the entire RS assembly and bolted it together tight at about 4-1/2 position long ago.

6" riser, Polz rider select delete, FBF throttle/oiler extended cable, extended wiring..............and loving it!!!
So much more control that with the 3" that was on it. I dont feel like I'm always leaning over the bars. 6'0"

When I bought my Summit I kept getting stuck and a friend I ride with said if I didn't put a rise on my bars he wouldn't ride with me anymore. What a difference it made! So I need to do the same with my RMK just can't decide on the height. Is there 3" on it stock? That's what it looks like. How did we ride all those years with the bar's right next to the dash? We rode to the same places but it took all day to get there. Probably because we were younger/dumber back then.

Pretty much the same setup but I think I'm 9" over stock(aftermarket bar/riser combo). I also went with a Wilwood master cylinder and mounted the multifunction switch to the rider select delete so I didn't have to extend the wires. I do wonder how much longer the steering post will last though......:face-icon-small-hap
