Adding oil to Ctec

Anyone adding oil in the fuel tank ? Any drawbacks ? Seams like these engines sip the oil........ has me leary

Drawback would be leaner fueling since you are displacing fuel with oil. Not sure the benefit of extra oil would offset the effects of a little less gas. Friend with a supercharger mixes a small amount of oil in the gas, but that's adding considerably more fuel as well. Most failures I've seen on here were attributed to snow ingestion. More oil would guard against a little splash of snow, but I'd worry more about getting your intake sealed up good. Especially where the hood fits up to the intake tube on the front of the bulkhead.

i've been adding one ounce per gallon of gas on both of my c-tecs....doesn't lean the fuel out to any discernible degree...does it help ? tough to say for sure...i think it gives a little insurance for unintended snow ingestion, or an oil line coming off, or who knows what else....maybe gives me a little reaction time to discover a leak or who knows what...

I also run 1 oz of oil per gallon of fuel, seems to be fine besides my spark plugs I just replaced at 900 kms because they were a little gummed up black

My '20 uses more oil than the '18 and '19 for some reason. I have been using dipstip in tank to verify levels. The '20 is using about 1/2" more per hour of hard riding. I noticed the oil light coming on earlier, but couldn't get an accurate volume measurement with jug fills. I'm not sure how much that 1/2" equates to in real ratio difference.
I had contemplated adding oil to the '18 and '19 since they were using less than the Zuke motors. The '20 is actually pretty close. Mine might be an outlier sled, who knows?

How many hours do you hve on the 2020? they will run richer for the first 6 hours of riding.

I measured every ounce of oil for 1,100 miles on my 18 and 1,200 miles on my 19.
They both average ~63:1over that span.(after 6hr breakin mode >30:1)
As much as 58:1 and as little as 70:1.

Its very easy to measure both gas and oil to get a pretty accurate result. I recommend adding and measuring oil every second ride as it uses so little per tank of gas.

Well past break in mode with 66.4 hours now. The oil consumption has remained fairly consistent. This machine spends a lot of time close to the tippy top on rpms. Maybe they turned them up for workout rpms, or maybe this one is just a fluke.
