ACR 2790 Personal Locator Beacons. These are brand new units.

Hi Rich,

I sent you a PM.

In case anyone else is interested, the answer is no, it will not work with the PIEPS.

It is designed to work as a stand alone unit, to be used when all self rescue resources have been depleted, and you or your group needs to be rescued.
A GPS can be connected to it, so that when the beacon is activated, your last recorded position from the GPS can be captured and sent with the information to the satellite. This greatly shortens the time to triangulate the position. (one pass of a satellite, versus 3 without GPS)

I have checked these units, they are in sealed boxes. If you are interested in the beacon, install a new battery pack. They have about 1 year left before they need to be replaced, and cost of a new battery is $100. The battery should be replaced every 5 years.
