Accidents happen

#1 in my book is if meself cornice jumps, there best be pow!:face-icon-small-coo:beer;
never have I hurt myself doing it, just don't do it much anymore. lol!

I did a similar act, broke mine too. Lost 1 inch in height, and looked chubbier from the shortness(accordian factor), or at least that is what I blame it on.

No surgery for me, just toughed it out.

Sorry to hear about your accident Tim. I guess you know now that bowling is a much safer sport. So how did it happen? Did you land tail heavy and have the seat come up and smack you in the rear? Did you have to ride out on your own? Could you still see the aftermath of that big avy when you were up at Fog Candy? Heal up dude! I hope to see you back on the snow next season. But no jumping... OK.

Sorry to hear about your back. We were up there yesterday and it was pretty hard, with just enough fresh to make it slick. Another group was up there and they headed out before us, a lady got going to fast on the trail out, lost control of her sled and had to bail. It looked pretty bad, if it wasnt totaled its not going to be cheap to fix.

Again, sorry to hear about your back. I try not to drop stuff unless its soft, but have been getting a little careless lately, this is good good reminder to think before jumping/dropping, but not how we needed to get it:(

:beer; for Boondock!!:beer;;):beer;

i've rode w/ this cat and his skillz are above average. I doubt i'll ever hit the stuff he boots, and now its official. I'm out. Just starting dropping this year, and i'm done. Just not worth it, imo. There's way too much stuff other stuff to get hurt doing. Like dirt biking!!

heal up boondock! and see next year at RE, or the Mesa????

Ray

Sorry about all the pain..boondock is one of my bestest buddies especially when sledding and it sucks what happened..I was holding the camera and drove him to the hospital.

that being said I will still be dropping when the powder is there. Just too much fun!

Skibreeze broke his leg last year doing a meadow carve in a wide open field...drove him to the hospital too! Guess what...still do meadow carves :)

Accidents can happen to anyone at anytime so I will do my best to minimize the risks but still push the envelope enough to have fun! At least at this stage of the game that is my approach.

Hope everybody mends up quick and gets back to the snow as soon as possible!

Thanks, Yes bowling is safer, but if you can believe it, I threw out my back at State last season, now missed State this year. AS far as the accident, I was tailwalking a small hill and dropped hard on a downslope. The sled went forward, I went backward and caught the rear bumper and taillight in the back. I will get this video posted soon as I figure out how. Something wrong with one of my youtube settings, not allowing me to post.

Sorry to hear about this Tim!! Watched the video at Kelly's, nasty little sound at the end. Hope you feel better soon, the boy almost won state for you this year!!!! Jeff

Were you wearing a tec vest or pack? I just got my tec vest earlier this season. Real knee pads are next on my list.

Wow. I was expecting a cornice drop or big jump gone wrong. Goes to show how easy it is to get hurt if you hit the ground just right. Good luck healing up for next year though.

Sorry about your luck. You will be riding befor you know it.

I did my back March of 2004 1 burst and 3 compression. I had surgery in June and started riding again November in 2005.

Good luck on a quick recovery!

Know what????THIS stage of the game is EXTREMELY short. Ever hear the saying 15 minutes of fame?? You will heal, thats a given(if you follow doctors orders) where the problem comes out is in a few years????How old are you?. I was looking @ the x-rays could not see any fractures in the vertabrea. Did they do a fusion? If so that will be the bugger , hurts like hell for the first year. I KNOW that 99.9% of the young guys will read this and go wtf is he talking about. Well I am now 54 and have broke my back as well shattered T4 in a dirt bike accident, cracked T4 right thru. Had 4 surgeries in 16 days. Developed flesh eating disease,50/50 chance of survival. I will be in pain for the rest of my life. DFEF. not worth it. You do heal much faster when young and that is really to bad. Would be better if it hurt like hell for at LEAST 1 year, enough to slow one down before more damage can be done. Very sorry to hear about your problem, but take some advice....TAKE THE TIME TO HEAL PROPERLY. This will allow you to enjoy life,,,not froma a wheelchair.....Been there done that(chicks might dig scars but they marry healthy young men)

Well, Here is a couple pics of the back work. Whats the best way to post the videos? Youtube? Trooney[/ATTACH]

MCX look at L3 or the one with out hardware....looks like he compressed that sucka it's broke on the superior or top aspect and the front. Pushed down into an almost triangle shape.

I can see your coccyx.

Sorry couldn't resist.

Take care and heal well and as MCX said listen to the Dr. As a member of the back surgery club I can tell you pushing harder than the Dr. suggests will only delay the recovery.
