Accessing muffler on Nytro

Hi guys,

I have been around snowmobiles for a while but I just bought my first four stroke and have question.

I bought a Yoshimura slip-on for my Nytro but am having difficulties with getting the old muffler out. I have taken the exhaust panels and the seat off but I can't seem to get the panel on top of the tunnel that's over the muffler off. I have taken off all the nuts that are holding it on but it won't budge. Is there another bolt or something that I don't know about somewhere that is holding this panel on? I found the three bolts under the rubber covers but they only seem to be attached to the muffler itself. I can't find any other attachments for the panel covering the muffler. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The 3 bolts under the rubber covers; 1 is the muffler clamp to the exhaust pipe and the other 2, if I remember correctly help hold that shroud in place.

Just dropped and AAEN in my nytro Saturday. You don't have to take that cover off to put a slip on in, unless you are planning on changing the headers.

Just pull the the two bolts that are side by side, they secure the stock muffler to the shroud. The front one holds the slip on bracket. Just loosen that one. Yank the stocker out. Put a new gasket in your Yoshimura and slide the stock bracket on. Slide back on, tighten the bracket and secure the new exhaust to the stock holes. You can reuse the bushings too.

Thanks,

I'll try taking those bolts out. I guess they are going to have to come out sooner or later anyway.

Note that the shroud is attached to the muffle with like a slide in bracket or something. So after you take all those nuts off you need to push it forward a couple of inches before it will come off. I spend quit a bit of time last night trying to lift it before I finally realised this...:rolleyes: Maybe it was the beers and the loud music....

Yeah I spent a good 10-15 minutes of frustration trying to figure out how it was being held on. Then once I pulled the muffler bolts and loosed the clamp, I just pulled the exhaust right out. Drr! Could've saved myself some frustration and not even pulled the 8 shroud bolts off. Sometimes my shop manual is totally useless. Probably just needed another beer. :beer;
