Is anyone running a turbo kit from these guys. There based out of Edmonton Alt.

I'm thinking of getting them to built my kit for next years PC8. They do both Aero chargers (66 series) and a full tial setup for a 28-68 garret.

Just looking to get a bit of info on the Aero's because I have no experience with them. Their claiming that its the fastest spooling turbo by far (even quicker then the tial setup) but has just a little less on the top end.

Which setup would you choose and why.

Not trying to bash I'm sure they do good work but I have seen the prices on their website and WOW!!! A Little steep!!! Run the Garret turbo and stay away from the Aero Charger. They were a cool fad and that is about it IMO. I have seen quite a few of them on the hills and they have never run as well as a garret, just my personal observation. I live and ride in the Sicamous/Shuswap area and run the 2860 turbo with my kit. Great responsive boondocking machine. If you are running about 12 PSI or less, the 2860 is a great turbo. If you are going to be running higher boost, go with the 2871. It runs the same exhaust housing as the 2860 but uses a larger compressor.

Your right the prices are steep, but after my last experience I'm will to pay a little more to have local service that actually knows what their doing. Also if you compare their price (which is for everything) to say OVS with all the extras then its not too far off.

The cheaper kit doesn't include everything and both kits don't include installation. I would shop around for a good turbo kit and then have someone who knows what their doing install it. Talk to some other sled shops around your area and see what they are running. There is a reason that some turbo kit manufacturers are more popular than others. Sorry but I'm not a fan of the Aero Charger and haven't seen them run great ever, like I said earlier. That has been my observation though.

Good luck with the turbo hunt.

I had 2 buddies get kits on their XP's there. One ended up running decent after 4-5 tries. The other one went back to try and get to run right more than you can count on one hand. Took the Aero out with 300km and got to buy a new one for a couple grand. Sled caught fire on the last ride of the season last year and burnt to the ground. Cause unknown, not saying from faulty install, the sled may have been cursed. :face-icon-small-dis

I don't know anyone that has had more turbo experience on Cat's than Kerry at Rough&Tough in Lloyd. He's had about 10 in the last 5 years. Since he became a partner in that store they sold over 10 kits that he installed and tuned. He installs them, he rides them, and he knows how to troubleshoot them which is the most impotant thing on anything custom, regardless of brand. Won't find a more knowledgeable guy than him on what you're doing. Saw him tune a guys sled in Blue River last weekend. Some guys would rather ride than be working but he made that into a new sled in an hour. That was one happy dude.

It's on your way to the hills and the tax benefits are ok too!

He's run both the Boondocker and Cutler. He prefers the Cutler since at the dealership, I think the last M8 he sold this week had the Stage 2 10lbs Cutler kit. He had it in Blue River and let the customer ride it while he turned his sled.

Best to phone him and get the goods from the horse's mouth. He also took a 10lbs M8 to the Cat demo ride so if you want some input on the 2 chassis' differences he could give you some seat time opinions.

Yeah our local dealer installs Cuttler as well, but they dont have a tial setup and I think Id really like to try that out with this next kit. Im leaning towards OVS.

I run the Cutler stage 2 also. Installed and tuned myself, no problems with this turbo kit. My next sled build will be a CPC stage 2 kit again.

Check with Tyler Semeniuk from ASE Powersports, he did my kit and put together a clean package in short time. I'm running the OVS Tial and just finished off my season with over 600miles of trouble free riding time with only one belt:face-icon-small-hap He does boondocker kits mainly but mine ran flawless right from the get go... Running 10-14lbs of boost right now.
