Absolute Best Track Length ? Opinion

i would prefer 153 to 159 for myself..had a 159 last year and am riding a 154 this year,:),snowcking a 09 and will get the 154 again:D

151-155 for me is all I would buy. I had the 159 and wouldn't go back.

As for 15 or 16 wide. Pick your medicine, I don't think there is that much difference from when I have rode a 151 x 16 summit rev but I'm sure some will say there is. Whatever.

For my type of riding, a 144 has been the best length for me. 162's are great for bottomless snow days and bigger guys. The shorter sleds are easier to throw around and get unstuck.

indeed. i love my 144 cause it jumps so well and we only have a few change-your-life-deep days a year. so ill just deal...

track length

It all depends on you, everyrider is different for me im 6 ft 205 i like the 159 163. For me not to hard to turn just depends also what kinda of riding you do,im not a big road rider.:beer;:beer;:D

lolo
(when in doubt throttle out)

Going from a 144 to a 159, I found the "harder to unstick" thing a bit of a myth. I mean, if you really really jam it somewhere silly, there is more machine to move around for sure....but on your average "stuck" I find the longer track requires less digging, track making, and pulling/pushing before it pops out...

I do concur Mr. Nelson. I should clarify that the weight you are lifting will be slightly less on a shorter sled from the rear bumper. The shorter sleds will whip around easier than a longer sled

if your not floatin, more track speed just trench's faster. set up or over the hood conditions, the long track and deep lugs move along nicely. my 144 x 2
just spins. i'd like to gear it down and put a 159 x 2.125 or 155x 2.4.
i've only seen "tracks usa" prices. any body seen better prices or quality.

Yeah I hear you on the trenching. My buddies 154 seems a bit better in the deeeep pow. Although the xp no matter what length seems to float so well its crazy. The 154-163 doesn't seem that much better than mine to warrant getting a longer track though. I am just thinking overall I like the 146" for my style riding. Its so damn nimble its unreal. Just my 2 cents.

i ride the cascade concret in wa. early in the season when we have powder conditions i always want a longer track. after things settle down a 151" does me just fine. i am switching from a finger track to a 151x16x2.3. just ordered it up from tracks usa. i'm thinking it will be the best all around track for me.

151 is the ticket guaranteed.

unless you have a super modified 300 plus horse sled all you need is a 151 in 16 wide with 2 1/3 in lug for the best all around track in all conditions.i have a nearly stock 05 adrenelan summit and i have been at 90 plus mph on icy straits aways and to the steam vents at baker wich is a very technical and super steep massive hill climb as all of mt baker is incredibal steep and in my opinion the very very finest riding on the planet and i have been all over BC and the famed pemberton ice cap in bc right by whistler famous ski area.sorry however it dosent hold a cadle to baker the all time king of the hill.
151 is your ticket not to long and not to short, perfect for any hill climb or boondock and straight away screamer.

the mighty turbo knows.
206er that rides baker later east side goobs, much more snow on the west side
in fact a world record and guess were ? baker freaks !!!!!!!!:face-icon-small-ton:beer;:wine:and ohh plenty of pictures and videos

No one beats TrackUSA prices. Great guy to work with.

I have a 153 that I slapped a 156 on, I wish I had gone with the 150.

The more I ride (and I ride in mostly alpine big climb areas) the more I realize that a shorter track is just more fun. I'm thinking my next sled will be under 150 (gonna be tough to find an 09 M1000 with a 136 though!!!)

I rode an IQ 600RR with a 144 not long ago, that would be the perfect size for me. (with a 1000 in it)

My choice would be a 151x16x2.3. I think it is a good length and the 16 width would help out tremendously. Even a 144x16 would be a solid choice. Just my .02.

I just put a 162x16x2.4 Maverick on my 05 Summit. Before it was a 151 with big 10 tooth drivers. Now I am running 7 tooth 3 inch pitch Avid drivers, the smaller drivers make for more room for the snow to get out of the tunnel. My track speed actually went up when I went to the 162. It is amazing the difference it made but I will admit that it takes a little more effort to get the sled turned in certain situations. I think a better set of skis would help with that.

I totally agree with you backcountry pro about the ski's just put on a set of take off from an 07 xrs big difference but it acually made me trench worse because it brought my ski's on top of the snow and made my a$$ end sink further in the snow, I think this summer I will tear it down and do tunnel(not extendtion) new rail track and suspension. I am leaning towards a mid 150 track (is 16" worth it?) Thanks for all the opinions. I'm not convinced track speed alone will bring my machine up much more. I am a real novice rider and off trail I am almost always wide open, and there have only been a couple of time I have ever been on true plane, can't seem to get weight off the tail.

Not trying to tell the select few track speed does'nt matter but I don't think thats my biggest issue.

Thank again for everyone input it has been informative.

D&R or 7t 3.0 pitch drivers. 150x16x2.5 Camo. Awesome track. If I had to do it again I'd go with the 156x16x2.5 but I've added power since then.

I went from a 151x15x2 to a 159x15x2.125 with 8" big wheel and 8 tooth drivers. I love this set up. I to am a novice rider and this year with all the deep powder the extra track and smaller driver has been awesome. I want to gear my chaincase down now. For me I love the ability to crawl up on top of the snow and float without having to be wot. I have had a 144, 151 and 159 and honestly the 159 is a little harder to carve around on but oh well I got used to it. I am 5'8" and 185 lbs.
