How do you turn a $1000 ABS pack into a regular old backpack. Forget to change the handle and cartridge after your preseason test....DOH! Time to change the bong water!!!

I guess thats why you are supposed to check your handle and cartridge before each ride.

How many people with ABS packs keep an extra handle/cartridge for back up. Incase you have to use it one day but still have a few more days of riding lined up?

Me thinks I will be ordering a backup this week.

I was thinking the same thing that an extra cannister/trigger is a good thing...

Does anyone know if you can take the canister out once it has been installed? I would like to weigh mine after sitting all summer.

Yes it can be taken out. The handle has a little explosive charge which breaks the seal on the cannister when it is pulled. So its not like screwing the cannister in primes (for lack of a better word) the system or anything.

off topic - im taking my new ABS pack to a sewing shop so i can pack a handle and shovel on the outside.....the pack is retarded in respect to packing a shovel

I thought so too until someone showed me how its is supposed to be attached.

On the botton of the pack there are two side straps and a middle strap. If you run the two side straps thru the middle-one it creates a bucket that the blade fits into. As long as you keep the handle on the blade it is held in place by the top strap. My handle also tucks under the bungie zipper cover thingy and locks it in tight.

On anther note. Kinda weird to take off your avy pack to grab your shovel when stuck on the side of the hill. Move quickly! LOL

I'll grab a pic and post it up...

Yes i tried to ride that way for a few rides, and got sick of removing everything to get inside the pack, guess i got too comfy with the HMK pack i had, it was very user friendly

Have to agree the whole moving the shovel to get into the pack is kinda of a pain. What are your plans for attaching the shovel?

holy i'm seriously pizzed my abs is a p.i.a. to try to get the shovel on the outside!its a dynafit abs plus am i missing something?

i want to sew an external pouch lije my HMK pack has, and add some velcro straps on each side for the handle and probe with a low point pouch thingy just like the HMK
