ABS Bag trigger location

On my free ride back pack the Trigger handle is on my left shoulder, in the event of being in a slide I would have to pull my hand off from the throttle?

I'm thinking that I would or should move it to my right shoulder so I can pull the handle with my brake hand?

What are you guys and gals doing? What is you opinions?

while at mike duffys class he demonstrated an abs pack and said that you can move the trigger from side to side. and one question was that if it would be smart to set it up so that u pull the trigger on your right shoulder with your left hand to keep your hand on the throttle incase you can somehow out run it

sounds smart to me

Why can't you pull it with the hand on the same side?

I dont think with coat and gloves and all you could reach it very easy!

Next time I'm out moving it to the right side!

I just had that thought, I've triggered avi's before while turning on a highmark, first thing I did when I noticed the break is squeeze the throttle and outrun it.

good to know it can be moved. I think it should be the standard for sledders(right side).

I just don't see me pulling the handle if I'm still in control of my sled. I'm going to concentrate on getting out of the danger area. The bags only take a second to inflate if you get tossed off the sled. JMO.

with the abs it doesnt really hinder your ability to ride a sled. an avy could catch up to you pretty fast even at WOT going downhill. if it does toss you off your sled how easy will it be for you to grab the handle sliding down a hill at over 100mph geting tossed all over? i think it would be easier to pull the trigger after u figured out u triggered a slide then out run it. IMO

when i was riding i was always reaching for the handle practicing. i think it's ok on the left since you can pull it in less then 1 sec. but ya why don't they come on the right

I personally like mine on the right hand side to grab it with my left... for me it just feels more natural to be able to have a thumb on the throttle and be able to pull with the other hand. The only problem I do have on my freeride is that no matter how tight I get the pack to my back the trigger seems to always ride up pretty high closer to the high side of my shoulder.

if a avy catches you at 100 your dead anyway. more than likely, i'll wait to pull mine until i'm off the sled, that's when i know i'm in trouble.

I prefer mine on the left because I am right handed and using my right hand to find and pull the trigger is going to happen more naturally and thus quicker.

So here's a thought. Mines on the left hand side. Agree it should be on the right for sledders in order to keep thumb on throttle......so.....I wonder if ABS has thought about selling a "Y" type adaptor so you could have one on both sides. In the event of going a$$ over tea kettle, or getting kicked off, you pull either one you can. Shouldn't be a big ticket item. Handle cost only plus the velcro holder a "y" section and some tubing.

If you get hit by an avy that has any speed to it, you have been pretty stupid to start with, you have been oblivious to your surroundings. I don't care how low the avy danger is, I am always checking the slopes around and behind me. Years ago I was less educated and have triggered a few avys, but even then was able to see the start of them.

i guess i stated it poorly i wasnt meanng it would hit you at 100 i was meaning it could be traveling at over 100 tossing you around

I will never be on a slope where an avy could reach that speed. I like to climb steep stuff from time to time, but keep the verticals shorter after a couple close calls back in the 90's.

I also agree that I don't think I would pull the trigger until I know I have to ditch the sled. If I know I am going to be buried the trigger will be pulled and if the slide is coming down that fast I will not have enough time to pull the trigger anyway I will just be buried.

Pull the trigger the second the slope moves, you may be unable to do so in the seconds that follow! TRUST ME!

Have a safe WINTER!

Mine rode high also, after a closer look I was able to loosen the connector and flip the hose 90 degrees giving me and extra inch or two. Has anyone switched it to the right side? I don't see how you could get the holder off of the left strap?
