Abolish the IRS! Lets hear some support for the Fair Tax!

The state sales tax has no reason to change. British Columbia has two sales taxes, GST, and PST.

The federal sales tax would be 23% and your state's would stay at 6%, so you would pay 29%. It may sound scary at first, but read a little more about it. You will pay significantly less overall tax than you do today.

I pay federal income tax and state income tax as well as state sales tax. This is where some of our funding for road improvements and education come from. I also pay property tax, what about this? What about the lost revenue of state income tax is the point I am trying to understand.

The Fair tax absolutely will work. The Republicans have been for it for years but the democrats hate the idea because the constant controversy over the present system enables them to use it to buy votes from the mid and lower classes and illegal immigrants and all. They actually prey on poor people. Think about it. liberals don't love the poor. They love their votes. I was poor not so long ago and the way things are going I probably will be again.

As I understand it, this is only federal tax reform. You'd still have withholding from your paycheck if your state has an income tax. You'd continue to pay state sales tax. You'd still pay property taxes.

I think it would be a good idea, if the Federal Government was financed by Sales Tax, and the state governments stuck to income tax. That way, they can't incrementally increase different taxes every year.
