A stupid turbo question?

I'm almost embarrased to ask this but:

Last trip out I broke my starter rope so I replaced it. Have enough spring tension to hold the handle tight to the plastic. BUT- when I hammer the throttle and she spools up at hole shot, the handle comes out about 6-8 inches. Should I have coiled it one more coil and if so can I just shorten up the rope a foot to solve the problem??

Told you it was stupid::o:confused:

Hey Buddy, you're infringing into my "stupid" question turf. Just kidding! :D

Yup, it sure sounds like you could have used another wrap on the coil. Honestly, that job is one that kicks my tail everytime. You need three hands!

I really can't think of any quick fixes for your problem other than rewrapping the spring.

Good Luck - I wish I could be of more help.

you should be able to shorten a ft...don;t cut it yet though...shorten it and leave excess on dead end in case it don;t work

Usually that means you have got the plastic sheeve to tight or the sprag is hanging up somewhere??? Maybe better take another look at it, if they grenade at high R's it will trash the recoil and could take out the stator coils!!!!!!:eek::beer;
