A Rollback + Sleds

Anyone ever seen or used a rollback for sled transport? Seems like it would be a pretty good platform if you had 4x4 and a shorter bed... thinking of something like this:

Or even better:

Post up some pics or links if you have seen it done...

There are a couple of sled deck manufacturers that use the whole "roll-back" concept for their decks. I've even seen a watercraft setup for pickups using a bed mounted frame with either a hoist or a winch & cable. Expensive and heavy, but it sure would make the toys easy to load!

ya when the insurance company sent one out to pick up my salvaged sled. LOL

There are some local guys who own a tow shop. I have seen them use their roll back for sleds. It seems like unless you could get one cheap, or already have one, you could get a hell of a nice enclosed trailer for what you would spend on a rollback.

Kinda funny this came up. I have been kicking around the idea for a couple years now. In california they have a stupid trailer law that says you can only go 55mph even on the fwy posted 65.. That and the fact they have stupid chain laws. So I was thinking a nice crew cab rollback with 4 air ride captains chairs would make hauling 4 sleds pretty sweet. Easy to load and a nice ride to the mtn..

Like was stated however is the $$$ They dont seem to give these things away.

My brother and I both have flatbeds on our P/U that we can get 2 sleds on but usually there is at least three going so we end up pulling a little trailer. This idea would solve a lot of headaches for me if I can find the right deal.

happylilcuss, just wondering, I don't live in Cali.. but what do you mean by "stupid chain laws"

Are you talking about having to use chains to secure loads, safety chains, or tire chains?

The stupid chain law is that you HAVE to be chained up on a drive axle towing on a snowy road, and if the trailer has brakes you have to chain it up too. The law may not be all that terrible, but they enforce it in a bad way. I broke a chain because those idiots made me chain up...200 feet up the road I went over a 50 foot patch of snow, and it was wet pavement after that. If you have a sleddeck you are in the clear though, no chains as long as you have decent tires.

wow that is a stupid law I've driven 100miles on the highway that was sheer ice due to it raining that day, then freezing that evening... semis and cars in the ditch like crazy, I was towing my trailer.. I had no problems.. ok I obviously slowed down from 62mph(speed limit) to 45-50mph and I turned my trailer brakes way down so they didn't lock up when I gently applied the brakes..
