a couple questions from the fng

Hey guys, i just picked up my new mountain horse, and I've got some ideas, and would like some educated input. I have an 09 yz 450. Gonna do a super moto front fender, obviously the foam, and filter in the airbox, long brake hose with front mc, big fluffy hand guards (i like thin gloves), thinking about the fastway pegs, also thinking about a thermostat, not too concerned about an auto clutch. And I'm gonna run the mountain addiction can on the back. I've got a slip on fmf silencer, and the thumb knob pilot screw, what am i gonna need for jeering? And if there something I'm forgetting? I think i read something about using anti icing additive for the carb? Should i just make a blanket for the carb? Some feed back would be great, thanks!

Well, here's a couple thoughts. With jetting it depends on the altitude difference you are going to be riding, I don't know any particulars with your bike but if you jet just slightly lean at your lower altitude it should be good up high. Yes, run a little gas line antifreeze and it's also a good idea to put a little 2 stroke oil in your gas, just to keep things lubed up a bit. Space the fastway pegs out an inch and I put a piece of rubber tubing over the shifter that extends it out another 1 to 1.5" and gear clamp it on. Put an inline thermostat on it.

How do you space the pegs? You mean away from the bike? I planned on getting their snow bike pegs which are almost five inches wide, so j don't think I'll need more? As far as jetting,i was just wondering how much to go up to start with. Cause it's got stock jetting aside from the pilot screw. Like go up a size, or two, on the pilot jet, or the main, our both? And the hose on the shifter is a cool idea, wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks for the input!

Do your self a favor and ditch the airbox and filter. I run a 2moto pod filter, other guys on here have made their own set-up. Either way the stock airbox and filter does not work in fluffy snow, no matter how much you try to seal it up.

If you are a tall guy a set of bar risers (Rox pivoting 2 1/2 inch) really help so you aren't hunched over the handlebars when standing. Granted, you don't stand a whole lot, but they are nice to have when you need to.

Are the risers really necessary? I ride this bike a lot, usually standing, and it doesn't bother me to not be straight up, if you do stand straight up it messes with your body English. But for riding in the snow I'll keep it in mind. And i live in Washington, we don't have super awesome snow very often, so I'll run what i brung.

I'm a stand up rider also. I love the 2" Rox riser. Stand up boondocking is way too fun. With a 2" riser, you do not need to add length to anything.
