A Big thanks to Travis and OVS.

Just a little background. So Last year was my first year on my 06 turbo M7. It had a boondocker RG setup for the most part but I was still dealing with inconsistant voltage as most turbo M7 have with the AC/DC system trying to run everything. It had a side dump exhaust that was way loud and basically just a straight pipe. So I did a bit of research and started talking to OVS about building a custom exhaust to try and quite the exhaust note down. Well one thing lead to another and with some help from the Cat engineer Travis was able to retrofit the new (M8) electrical system to my M7. No more AC system and all the DC power I want. The DC voltage went from 9.6 V on the fuel rail to 14.7 V. With all this new found power they were able to install there current fueling setup (external fuel pump), adjustable regulator, and PL box. They used there newly designed muffler from there Tial kit and custom designed a side exit exhaust that is no louder than my buddies REV with a pipe and can on it. While they were at it they switched the pipe mounting system to there bolt and spring setup at the turbo and Y pipe. This removes all the springs at the Y pipe and the solid connection at the turbo.

First ride out yesterday with it and I was grinning from ear to ear all day. With a little fine tweeking on the box and fuel regulator it ran flawless all day long. Places where the old setup would bog with the hood covered with snow I was able to tear up without a hickup. To make a long story short The job that Travis and OVS did was nothing short of FLAWLESS. I am very anal when it comes to my stuff and I couldn't find anything (trust me I looked) that I would have done different.

To rap this way to long post up if you are on the fence or in the market I highly reccomend the guys up there at OVS. Awsome service and a even better finished product.

The turbo is a 2871. They wired in the rectifier from the M8. As to the specifics you might want to give Travis a call as he worked with the Cat engineer to get everything wired up correctly. It worked great though.

Looks like, from your pic, the voltage regulator/rec is a AC-5639-258 DC. Had to put one on my 2010 M8 to run my booster pump.

Trust me Matt, we all should be thanking Travis for making that muffler! :rose:I can not believe how much quieter that thing is.......:clap2:

Trust me, all M-7 turbo guys would like to have exact set up for this.

I have to agree with everything said here about OVS! I have their Tial M8 setup and it's awesome with great service too! Their clutching is bang and and right out of the door my sled ran better than any other sled I've ever owned. The tuning was super easy and only took me a day to tune my sled in all while running super the whole time as well. The dealer was trying to convince me to go with a Boondocker pump gas kit, I'm sure happy I went with the OVS race gas kit instead!

Blow Off Valve

What kind of blow off valve do you have? How well does it work?

The BOV is a Greddy. It works really well and is very quiet, infact you can bairly hear it.

As for the Electrical system it seams to be working very well so far. That had always been the downfall of the M7 and turboing them. If this works out like it has it should be a big discovery for all the turbo M7 guys left ot there.

very very interesting, if this electrical setup can be sold as a kit it would be great. not that i currently even need a turbo but also means i don't need a new sled to get a reliable turbo either

This electrical dc conversion kit is nothing new. You can buy it as a kit from your arctic cat dealer. Comes with the rectifier and wiring harness. Plug and play for the 2010 and 2011 sleds, not sure if that is so for the m7.

Anyone have a good Arctic Cat dealer by them that would know if it would work on a M-7? Our Cat dealer thinks a turbo is a brand of vacuum cleaner.
I would hate to think that there has always been a quick fix to our changing to High impedance secondy injectors, low watt fuel pumps, bad stators and, and, and, and............

Your best bet it to give Travis a call as to the specifics of what they did. I know they got some info from the Cat Engineer as to how to wire everything together. As far as I know it wasn't jut a plug and play type setup. I do know that so far it is working very well. The only hickup in the whole deal is that you have to design a rectifier that converts the tach signal back to a signal that it can read since it was designed for the AC system. I haven't done this yet so my tach read 1/2 of what it should. A small price to pay for the benifits.

how much did the cross over cost? i need to do this. jus put my kit on the other day. havent even rode it yet but heard all these horror stories about TM7 and now im nervous to take it out

Well is it really hard to put a price on just the electronics as I had quite a bit more done at the same time. It was all bundled together so there was really no break down on each thing they did.

I would give Travis a call and talk to him about what they did and what it would run price wise.

Travis number is 801 949 7777. I just talked with him and he said to feel free to give him a call anytime.
