A-arm question

Well already this yr I have to buy 2 new arms. This will make 5. I am tired of breaking these lol. I was thinking about buying some holz or CoBe. But will i break these as well? Do they hold up pretty good. I have had some pretty bad luck hitting rocks right on the arm.

could be worse ,,if you had a skidoo yopud be replacing bulkheads-nuns-s-modules LOL:beer;

A buddy and I have wasted 2 each this year. I am just happy that we can bolt on a new one without any damage to the bulkhead at all. I'm keeping a spare set in the trailer at all times now.

I would go with the z bros a arms, very tough and they have more clearance at the shock mount than the other available arms on the market.

Yea i do like that idea. I think i am jsut goin to go back to stock a arms. I have been hitting hard. Hard enough to break the arms at the welds :o

I would hate to do that to a pair that cost as much as holz

Herss the thing on that. a complete 4 a arm purchase from poo is more than 4 a arms from Z broz or holtz. Riddle me that batman.

Exactly. That's how I ended up with Holz arms. They were $450 and lighter than Polaris arms. A buddy of mine was able to buy individual Holz arms as needed.

On another note. The arms should break before the mount point on the bulk head. You don't want to replace bulk heads and have straight arms. I've contemplated buying another set of Holz arms and keeping them around. I always loose an A-arm or two in a season. If you did some serious damage, a buddy could go back and get the arm with the 14 mm wrenches for the quick fix.

Holz

I got a set of Holz last year and haven't had any problems. One of the few things on my sled I haven't had to mess with. I found a set in the swap meet off of a show sled for a great price.

I run Holz A arms and they bend too but usually only the lower and you can buy them one at a time or get an extra set of lowers just to keep on hand. So far only one this year.

Before homemade skid plates-4 A-arms in 300 miles on two sleds.

After installing DIY Skid Plates-1 A arm in 1100+ miles, (nothing was gonna' stop this one)

If you hit a rock right on the A-arm it's going to be damages, regardless if it's stock or not.

I've been through 10 pairs of lowers in the past 2 seasons. I tend to hit everthing under the sun. I thought of getting better arms, but do not want to replace the bulkhead. Also easier to get stock arms local then calling holz on the opposite coast to get parts.

i've got a complete holz setup...a-arms and spindles for sale.good for the new sway bar...powder coated white.approx 100 miles on the set...zero miles on the new powder coat.pm me if interested.

do you know how mcuh the holz are each?

Well i do know that a set of 4 from z broz and holz are 450-475. so assuming you can divide that by 4 thats 119each, prolly more like 130 for the lowers and 100 for uppers.
Polaris sells lowers for 160ish each and uppers i forget but there more than the above also.
Just that most people arent looking for all 4 poo arms so its cheaper to keep buying them 1 at a time.

I'm sure that somebody will sell the Holz cheaper than retail, but I emailed them and this is their response;

Our a-arm kits are 41” wide, your stock 08 dragon arms are 39” wide, so you could not mix them. Our kit retails for $475, replacement lowers are $157 each, uppers are $89 each and tie rods are $25 each.

FreeAgent on here sells the Polaris lowers for $110 shipped.
