99/2000 Chaincase Cover removal?

Alright after about an hour of searching post I have not found anything on removal of the chaincase cover. Im a newb and this is my first sled, 2000 RMK 700 with 666miles on it when I bought it. I have put on about 120 more in the last 3 rides. I checked the oil level prior to 1st ride and noted a bunch of filings and metal nerds on the magnet so flushed out the case with new oil. went for ride drained and flushed again refilled. Smelled oil after second ride so I took the pipe off and removed reverse linkage and took out the 4 bolts holding cover on and noted that somebody had drilled a hole in the plastic body tub to get at the lowere rear bolt.

After all bolts removed I could not get the cover all the way off due to the lack of clearance against the body down by the trailing arm area??? Any tricks here there isn't much room with the reverse mech molded on the cover??

The metal filings are normal and so is the fact that the reverse cover is a MF. Sometimes it just happens to slide on/off, but it truly sucks 95% of the time.

I forgot to mention since i could not remove the cover completely the first time I closed it up and wnet for a great ride but noted there was CC oil under the pipe, so upon further I noted tonight that I did not add a dab of silicone to the top where the rubber gasket meets and I puked most of th cc oil out at that point and thus here I am. I need to get that cover off and clean and reseal the gasket this time with RTV sealant.

I have never really experienced much trouble taking it off. Just wiggle it around and try to get it off evenly. If you can't get it off then I would not worry about it with less than a 1000 miles on it. Dab a bit of rtv sealant on the top where the gasket meets. There is a lot of filings on the magnet all the time with the reverse but don't worry about it either.
