98 RMK 700 Dies after running for few minutes of riding.

I have a 98 RMK 700 which dies after riding it for five minutes. I just replaced the crank and pistons. The machine has good spark and idles fine. Any ideas that could be causing the problem.

it is the stator on the crank.

Second that. Have seen stators cut out as soon as they get warm, also have seen the same problems with the CDI box. Try the CDI first if you can borrow one, sure saves ripping the motor apart if thats the problem.

I would check in this order: Temp sensor, CDI then stator. Probably not temp sensor though as that'll just put you in limp mode. CDIs were common to go out on those sleds.

I don't know this sled specifically, but if it was me I'd check fuel - sounds like you can run till the carb bowls empty out.

I'm with rotten. Check the fuel supply. Fuel line from tank could be collapsed.
