98 MM 700 Running poorly

The wife's 98 MM 700 doesn't want to run with the choke off. I can ride it around out in the field with the choke off but it wants to die in the bottom 1/4 of the throttle. If I pump the throttle I can keep it from dieing. It will not idle with the choke on or off. It ran great before putting it away last spring.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

Clean the carbs. You have some partially plugged jets.

I agree with the plugged jets. The triples have small pilot jets in them that are easily plugged. They control the fuel from idle to the first 1/4 of your throttle. You can soak them in carb cleaner and try blowing them out. The best fix is to just put new pilots in. They don't cost that much and then you are sure they are clean.

Also the choke/enrichner on these models is a separate circuit for starting.

Shine a light into the gas tank, or fish out the fuel filter and fuel line.
Look at the fuel line to see if it is cracked, or broken off. The gas line from the filter where know to fall apart.

Also check the fuel filter clean the carbs.

clean your carbs thoroughly and spray some carb cleaner through them. check all your jets and pilots they most likely have grease plugging themm up. you can just run gas or carb cleaner through them and blow them out, that should unclog them
