98 700rmk steering shaft

so, i folded my steering shaft yesterday, and its time for a fix. my shaft is bent under hood to clear the airbox, and i was wondering if anyone knew whether or not i could use the straight styla shaft design if i junked my airbox. if the straight one will work, ill build my own out of chromolly. has anyone ever done this before?

I haven't seen it done, but I believe that would work. However if you're interested, I happen to have a Wild Child Chromoly stock style post + 4" that I'd sell. Thanks

is the +4 on the shaft itself or is it a add on riser? i love the hieght of mine right now, and my riser looks awesome. i have the Rox billet 2 piece articulating riser, and it looks great. how much would you want for the shaft minus the riser (if it is addon.)?

No riser here. The post itself is 4" longer than the stock. It is a moly post, built to stock spec + 4". Thanks

OK, when I do a search on SW for 'Wild Child' I receive many hits. He's out of Canada and is well known for his high quality work. He does way more than just steering posts. You can simply PM him. His user name is 'Wildchild'. Good luck

wear did you get it. i did a search for wildchild, and i couldnt find anything. id like to get one stock height

I may have an OEM shaft that I'd let you have, if you'd cover the shipping. I'm out of town this week and would have to check to see if I still have it when I get home Friday.

I'd recommend going with the wildchild post. A stock one will bend like a noodle if you have much of a riser on it. I built a chromoly post for my sled with 1 1/2" of rise on it and have a 6" ole's riser on top of that. I don't know if a straight post will work or not with a modified airbox, there is a slight plane difference between the top and bottom of that post.
