My 600 xc has a vertical crack in the lower case cover. Can it be drilled to stop crack from spreading and then be welded. Engine runs, but would run better w/o crack.

It can, but only if the crank is removed, the aluminum is heated up and the proper rods are used. Tig welding would be best. Honestly for the amount of work your going to have to do Id just buy a new upper case.
