975 on 92 pump fuel

Just wondering if anyone has done any headwork to lower the compression and ween it off the race mix ?

my 975 from htg ran on 92

when i build my Carls 975 this summer...i will break it in with 50/50 (110/91), Carls said thats what needs to be ran all the time...

but, after the break in, i am going to play with the fuel and see what i can get it down to..

will try these mixtures...you can try the same (unless you getting a head mod to run straight 91) (i will ride from 5000-8000ft, pretty much ALL season)

--50/50 (110/91)
--40/60 (110/91)
--30/70 (110/91)
--ALL 100LL AVGAS
--50/50 (100LL/91)

just watch your piston wash, egts, and a/f gauges and play with it....but i will be using Nitrous too, so i cant run much 91 at all when i use that...well, thats if i use it, lol

i would rather just run straight 100LL avgas as its only $4.40 gallon, so not too much more then pump..

but as for the Carls 975 which i think you have...i dont knw if anyone has ever changed the head to run straight pump on it?

would be interested in seeing what you can get away with...

I've had extensive talks with J. Struthers on this same issue. He stated to me that he could never get the 975 to run well on pump gas. In his words, the 975 just didn't like lower compression and octane.

Yes it is carls cycle but last year when i lost the crank they told me they didnt want to work on 900 anymore ...They built the sled new with everthing all the way around!!!

So i sent it to indy dan for all the goodies And the service is great everytime i need anything.

Thanks guys i will be sending it to the shop next week i hopefuly get one more spring ride out of itthis spring if it works good i will be sending my06 in as well.

I will also be running nitrous as well after i get everything else working right or a turbo sent derek an email earlyer.

Definately worth a try. Adding a fuel controller (Boondocker) with that "may" help.

Power commander has a better range of adjustment....IMO And should work well on 06 4 injector set up. New 800 is 2 injector and may retrofit to 05
