975 idle?

I got my HTG 975 running- it seems to run good, but the idle seems high. I have carl's ecu and a slp airbox along with brand new throttle body boots. I also set the tps correctly. I did not check the wires and the connector for it though. I have the new updated tps connector I plan to install sat. I thought a stock 900 idles at 1700 rpm +/-200 rpm. This thing seems to idle at 2600 to 3000 rpm. It seems to creep up from 2600 rpm. Is this what a carl's 975 idles at? Plugs look good.

No, should idle at stock levels. And as RPM's climb (3500-5000), sounds a little 'choppy' at part throttle. Thats the only audible difference that I notice from stock.

I think he meant carb idle screw. the tps just indicates throttle plate position. there should be an idle adjust screw just like on a carb, that will crack those throttle plates open or closed. I'm guessing that you didn't mess w/that though right?

edit: second thought.. I think some do refer to that screw as "curb idle".

Well I did when I set/checked my tps on a bench. I will look at that again today. Doesn't messing with this idle screw affect your tps setting?

Might need to adjust the throttle cable on the left side of the throttle bodies where it hooks onto them. There's a threaded adjustment screw that stops the throttle bodies and it might need to be backed off a bit. Just in front of where the cable is attached. Right below the throttle body coolant line.

Well, once the tps has been set with the throttle plates closed by loosening the screws on the tps housing and adjusting the voltage to spec. then you have done that part of it correctly. The throttle plate screw doesn't change that setting. They are two different things. All you care about is that the TPS and throttle plates are sync'd. You can still play with that throttle screw if your idle needs adjustment.
