94-97 F350 Crew Cab

Ive always wanted one of these trucks. Just want to hear others opinions on it and if you have pictures of yours that would be awesome! Especially pictures of it towing a trailer!

I have a 97 F250 crew short bed stick 4WD and a F350 crew long bed auto 4WD. Both are 7.3 diesels.

Pulled 7 tons with no problem.

They ride better than a Dodge pull just a good and get around 18 with no load and 13-14 with a load.

Treat them right and they are low maintenance lasting 300,000 miles and then a tranny, alternator, glow plugs, fuel pump, some front suspension replace some rubber under the hood and I am at 785,000 on the 350. 246,000 on the F250.

A "centurian" custom with a Dodge cummins and drive train is the perfect crew cab truck. IMHO

They have a large turning radius but you can get aftermarket spindles to make them turn sharp.

Price depends on mileage ... under 100,000 over $10,000. 100k-220k around $7k Over 250k arond 4-6 grand.

What do you want to know?

Basically that's about it. I'm looking every where for one, i want a clean crew cab 350 diesel miles don't bother me as long as it is clean. The closest one i can find to me (Boston) is out in Colorado. I Just cant see spending the money on a plane ticket to find out the truck is no where near as mint as it is in the pictures.

Looking to get one remove the whole interior and dynomat the whole cab to make it nice and quiet, then replace interior using seats from a new F350 Lariat. Do an exhaust brake, traction bars, airbags in all 4 corners to help the ride quality. And then a bunch of other stuff. Ive always wanted this truck and when i find a clean one i plan on doing it right so it will last me forever.

A customer of mine has a 98 F-350 crew cab,XLT, auto, 7.3L, singe rear wheel, long box, Bright red. No rust or issues, diablo chip and mbrp exhaust only mods, 80,000 original miles, he bought it new. Very nice truck. he said he would like to sell it.. I can ask him a price if you are interested, located in MN.

If it is a very clean 80,000 mile truck ... it will bring premium dollars.

Boston huh ... everyonce in a while a small community sells an emergency vehicle which can be this truck.

Some dealerships have a vehicle inquiry database and when one comes up the dealer is notified.

Texas has lots of this truck.

I don't know your budget but have them video tape the truck ... xtensively.

I biggest issue on the truck with 785,000 miles is the rubber is desintigrating. A diesel hose broke on the free way ... cost $15 to be made but sprayed alot of fuel all over. The wiring for the power windows is bad plus the power window motors are going out .. very common . Okay so it broke down once ... in at least 200,000 miles since last breakdown !!!

I'm not sure Ford made F350s in 98? Maybe a typo or i might be wrong? Old body stopped in 97 and new started in 99 i thought?

Does it look like this one?

That's a good idea about the video, I'm doing a lot of searching right now but I'm going to try to make my truck last me through the winter and then sell it for a 97.

Any reason not to just move up to a 99+ body style? They sold a ton more of those and you would likely have better luck finding one. Same 7.3 in the early years. What is the direct rationale? Like the body style better?

I've got right at 199K on my 94 F-350 XLT 4X4 460. It's a sturdy built truck that rides like a truck... I much prefer the Super Duty to the older style trucks in almost all aspects, but clean older rigs like the one posted above do look sharp for sure!

Are you sure a Super Duty interior will fit in the older body? I know the newer truck is quite a bit wider.

Mine a few years ago

I drive an 02 F350 srw crewcab with a 7.3, problem is it going to be needing alot of work soon. Its spent its life in new england and the winters have really taken a toll with rust and rot etc.

As far as the interior being a direct bolt in, probably not may need some customizing to make it work.

Ive always wanted the 94-97 body style and the 4 door is very nice to have. I would rather get the truck ive always wanted and start putting money into that to make it bulletproof, apposed to dumping a ton of money into the truck i drive now which im not found of the color, the bed is rotting out, and the passenger door is rotting out.

For California all diesels are smogged starting in 98.

For durability it seems IMHO the 94-97 were most durable and a truck.

If you want pretty go with the 99-03 diesel 7.3. I even think the bed is smaller. The reason I think the bed is smaller for 99-03 cause a 4x8 sheet of plywood fits between the the 97-94 fender wells with a few inches to spare. I tried a tailgate from a 99 for my 97 and it was 4-6 inch short.

The 97 crew cab can have some old style and new on it ... gets a little confusing.

Yeah you're exactly right. They made 97 light duty F-250's that look like a 97 F-150 (newer body style), 97 HD F-250's and F-350's with the older body style. For model year 98 they didn't release any 350's. Then in 1999 they began selling model year 99' 250s and 350s as the Super Dutys.

Wow what's the story about no F350 in 98 ... that must of hurt sales.

Does 97 new body style only apply to gas ? Cause my 97 crew cab diesels are the old body style.

They manufactured 1997 model year F350s until late '97, and started selling Super Duties in early '98. The '97+ new body style only applies to the F150s and light duty F250s (basically seven lug F150s).

Ya my bad that red one is a late 97.. very nice tho, talked to him and he had a guy offer 12k and he didnt sell, sounded more like 13-14 would buy it. Seemed like alot for a 97 but where are you going to find one rust free in mint shape with 80000 miles.. so maybe who knows.. anyway any interest ill pass it along to him.

A loaded 97 crew F350 SW with PS and only 5000km popped up here on Kijiji about a year ago. Ad said farm estate sale. It didn't stay on there long.
