In the situation we are in, it is IMPOSSIBLE to withdraw troops instantly, it needs to be done over time. by us staying in Iraq we are preventing sunni, shiite war, which could essentially spread from Iraq to neighboring countries and beyond. Iraq is a country that needs to be stabilized before we leave. Things are getting better with more trained Iraqi troops but until they can fend for themselves, we are going to need to stay there. I 100% support our troops. I have many friends that are/were/will be entering the armed forces. a few years ago one a kid from my highschool, just 21 years old, was killed by an IED. I want the troops out, but its something we can't do instantly without the risk of a much larger religious war over there.
as it is by the end of february 09, we should have 8000 troops home without replacements.
and FYI, there are a lot of Americans that don't understand what could happen if we were to instantly withdraw, Everybody wants our troops out of Iraq, EVERYBODY, but! most of the people you say "want our troops out of there" are people that aren't informed on the actual situation. To understand what is going on over there you need to know more than just what the media says.
