900 on Tar

Ok guys we live in WNY by Rochester, Not a lot of snow in the last few years, We are gonna put the 900 on tar, We have a Storm 800 already and a 550 fan on tar, Need help with cooling and gearing, Gonna be running the 1/4 and the 1/8, Love this motor in the Switchback 144,

I'm not sure what you are looking for with gearing for this application. As for cooling, I would think you could build a box about 1 ft cubed or so and strap or bolt it to the tunnel on top of the large rear cooler and fill it with ice cubes. Then you could take several runs without having to worry about the motor overheating.

55 gal drum full of water

Just run the Normal front RAD

Then in the Pits get a 55 gal drum full of water. with an RV style 12 v water pump to circulate it with.

Put quick couplers in the Sleds Cooling System lines, betwee runs use the barrel water for cool down , vo la.

It should be fine for a few starts and stops up to staging.

I was just at Firebird Raceway in Boise last weekend and watched about 10 sleds run. Mostly moded 680 ultra tripples.

tar 900

Ok Guys we already run the tar, we have a 800 storm on tar with a cool down and fans for the clutch, We are looking for info on gearing for the 1/4 mile. My 900 is a monster already. just don't know the gearing side for this sled. Is it standard Poo?

Do a search for flatlander setup in the 900 section. I would check that out to help ya a bit more with clutching and gearing

Gearing / Clutch

Work Backward --

If you believe it will turn 125 130 mph then gear and clutch it for that 7900-8000 RPM just beginning into overdrive so at 1200 feet you are at full speed, then coast out to 1320.

This Sled should accellerate like a tripple, pull on the top end, get some gearing info from the 680 700 tripple ulta boys.

Put a good Crank in it ------------
