900 oil consumption?

Just wondering how much oil should I be going through on day ride?
I've just gone on a 5.5 hour ride used 3/4 of fuel and almost all the oiL.
Is this normal for the 05 900 rmk?

Should have used only a quart at the most. Check your oil cable, bet it is shot and needs to be replaced. There's an aftermarket one that is stronger and better.

On a full tank of fuel, 40liters, I use 1.5 liters of oil. Which is just over half an oil tank. That's with my fuel light just coming on. I run the FBF oiler cable set just a hair on the richer side of mixture. This 9hundos use lots of fluids.

i rode about 45miles the other day and used just under a qrt..

on a fuel tank, i would say 1 1/2 qrts at the max..

do you have the FBF throttle/oiler cable...if not..i will garuantee your oil cable is busted and stock wide open!

I only just got the sled so I don't know if its been replaced.
How can I tell if its broken? Is it a easy job to replace?

you will tell once you remove your throttle bodies...the oil pump lever will be cocked at wide open..

the stock cable is an extremely poor design and it will break even if its new within a few hundred miles..at most..

do a search on here for FBF cable..it will NEVER break and it will allow you to remove your throttle bodies without messing with the oiler cable..

Wow! that is a lot of oil ! 40ltr-1.5ltrs of oil is 26.66:1 oil ratio

In my opinion it should be around 40:1 ratio
I am running 42:1 on my sled with turbo.
I actual measure the amount of oil used and fuel used after the ride
and adjust the cable as needed to get desired oil ratio.
This ended up being on the leaner side of the factor stamp on the oil
cam housing.

Yep 40ltrs/1.5 ltrs = 26.6666

40ltrs/1 ltrs = 40.00
